Look What I Have in the Garden

Most of the day has been outside enjoying the nice weather. Yesterday we picked up the final supplies for this homemade water solar fountain. For now it is sitting on the bench in Dustin's garden, beside the white butterfly bush. But it can be moved. It was finished just now and already the butterflies are checking it out. Waiting to see if the hummingbirds notice the red plate and water. They are attracted to red. I know, the bucket has a hunting camo pattern, but it was all they had. So it will be fine. The butterflies and birds don't care. This fountain operates on a small solar panel and a motor inside the bucket filled with water. It will work as long as we have sunshine. Pretty cool right? You can find anything on YouTube. That is where the idea came from. So that is how my Saturday has been going. Hope yours is good as well.

Very nice & solar operated too, great. Nature seems to enjoy it, a win win situation!

That is really a smart idea, I love it. There is something so soothing about the sound of water trickling from a fountain.

@CarolDM Did the pump come with a warranty at all?

@Juliaacv Yes it can be returned but I am not sure it is worth it for now. A little frustrated. The season is almost over anyway for the birds and butterflies.

Thanks, it was moved three times since the photo. And now it is not working at all. The pump just stopped.

@CarolDM That is a great idea to have a water fountain. I was sitting on our porch reading and my cat would come out and see me ever so often.

I took the photo down. It stopped working. I think the pump must be defective. But I added the photo back for you just now.

Yes, it was a cool find. Most of the blooms are fading but these butterfly bush blooms are still going. Thanks. A little too hot for a picnic today, this is in full sun. But nice to watch from the screen room.

@CarolDM I have a small pond near my bird feeder, but the cats like to sit next to it, so the birds don't drop down that often

Yes indeed. That is why most feeders are red. And many will buy the red colored nectar. I make my own nectar. They love the red flowers too.
