Oh, yes, I do! I've often considered asking, "Are you a man or a woman?", but in the end have refrained from it. It feels too stupid. People who just mention their names belong to the breed that thinks that their part of the world is 'the' world. Sorry, but I do not know which names in Asian countries are used for men or women! Nicknames and the photo of a pet are even worse.

I think I know who is male and who is female on here. I have been suprised a time or two though. Something about the energy that comes across...have a great wallk!!

It happens and not only with the new users. I interacted with someone for a long time thinking "he" was a man, I finally discovered I was wrong.

Yes I agree with you. It is difficult to make out from the name and Avatar the member is Male or female. Only when they make reference to their husband or wife through their posts we come to know their gender.

I never understood why people have anything other than a photo of themselves in the profile pic. That's what the profile pic is for. You are not a cat, or a dog, or a baby, or a planet, etc. No reason to hide yourself. Also, some use a pen name instead of the real name. That is okay, however, sometimes we can't tell who the person is, especially if the picture is not of that person. There were people I've talked to I thought were guys but they turned out to be female. Sometimes I am not sure who I am talking to but it doesn't feel right to ask if the person is male or female, maybe even rude.

I can imagine that. Yes maybe it is disturbing. I try to understand the gender from the post and when we have a talk. But off course it is difficult for the new friend. Eem... for the profile picture maybe they are too shy to show it. Just like me . By the way... thanks God, the name that was given to me is also common name at the world so i am recognized easily . Anyway you are so kind, caring about the gender of us

yes, we can meet many friends in despite of our age and male or female.I found it can imporve my english through our communication and expression of opinion.
