What a diff'rence a day makes

Phew, 'tis been a rough ride 'round these parts since Sunday. Grey skies, cold winds, ice fog, sleet, snow 'n rain 've left a lovely, muddy, happy mess here'n the High Plains. If'n not fer the wind, I'd been ravin' 't such a marvelous 'xperience. To feel the dampness'n air, raindrops 'n snow/sleet dancin' 'cross the rooftops. Our projected blizzard turned to a 'bust' Wednesday eve. Though the clouds put great 'ffort'n such'n e'ent, those teensy snowflakes finally gave'n to brilliant sunshine. 'twas a kiss from the heavens, that glorious light glimmerin' 'cross the sky. Today I 'wakened to a streak 'f bright light, near blindin'. Gigglin' with joy I donned my winter clothin' 'n headed to check my wee herd. Muddy, frazzled, disheveled from high winds fer days'n all sorts 'f weather e'ents. They greeted me with soft nickers, I greeted 'em with carrots 'n lovin' scratches. We'd survived the storm yet 'gain. Outside 'f the blessin' 'f much needed moisture, such 'lso offered great background fer bird watchin', pic snappin'. 'r so's I thought. Took hundreds 'f pics 'f sweet lil birds foragin' 'round the snow 'n ice. The skies too grey to show their magnificence. Perhaps fer my eyes 'nly? 'n then, this pair flew from the shakin' trees (wind gusts 'f 45mph) to brave the elements fer a drink 'f water from the falls. A tender moment captured that'll warm my heart 'lways ~ Nary a clue what they'd be. Perhaps somebody here'll know? I've guesses, but 've been horribly wrong with such'f late.

I'm glad you and the animals survived the storm and came out well on the other side of it. I love the picture. My first thought is a goldfinch. But what do I know? Certainly not birds. They're beautiful whatever they are.

me's well. ya ne'er know fer certain with the horses. one could get really spooked'n go through a fence 'r cause other 'njuries to 'emselves. hence my nervous nelly self, goin' to check'n 'em oft. i'm thinkin' a lesser goldfinch, but a new mexican one? the texas species havin' the black, these'n olive greenish grey. yepperz, sure delight to see 'em.

@dgobucks226 she seems to get a kick out'ta such. autumn 'n spring 're like this - wild temp swings with all sorts'a weather. e'ery now'n then she'll throw such durin' the winter, too. folks wearin' t-shirts'n flip flops't Christmas time jest fer a blizzard to hit a few days later.

I dread driving on those slippery roads. I need to buy snow tires this year. The wings and coloring of those birds look like parakeets but they look to short and fat to be them.

i hope yer able to get those 'n soon, hon. they kinda do, a bit puffed due to the frigid cold that day. but, i'm leanin' towards lesser goldfinch. not the ones from texas like i shared not long 'go. seems their be a new mexico 'un that's olive grey 'nstead 'f the black. i dunno, i've gotten many species wrong. most confusin'...

Aww aren't they so darn cute! I often don't know how critters can stand the weather outside . . . some can better than others I suppose.

fer certain :) 'twas delighted to catch 'em both together'n sittin' still. most oft they're constantly movin' some body part'f 'nother. tons 'f blurred shots, lol. most critters've not the choice. they've gotta eat 'n they've gotta drink. the rest 'f the time they huddle somewhere. the birds 've a purty good insulation via those feathers. they'll fluff like those trebles from star trek.

I am not sure what kind of bird they are, but they are a cute pair. We might get some snow squalls this coming weekend, hopefully not, but it is that time of the year.

i'm thinkin' lesser goldfinch, the new mexico variety? the one from texas's black'n top. ick'n yer snow squalls. i fear i couldn't reside where there'd be so much snow'n cold. we're to be 72(f) tomorrow. to be pleasant fer a while anyhow. this's our 2nd 'winter e'ent' this autumn thus far.
