Shopping/Delivery Side (app) jobs?

Hi! Does anyone make any extra money shopping/delivering for Instacart, Shipt, or another service like that? OR a food delivery service like Uber Eats, Door Dash, Bite Squad, Post Mates or any of those. So, in my boredom and wanting to do something productive with my time - and at the suggestion of one friend - I signed up for both Door Dash AND Shipt. I haven't actually used either of them yet, but I plan on trying Door Dash next weekend possibly. And I signed up for Shipt, which Target always offers, because it sounds interesting and if I have to buy things at Target - I LOVE navigating Target (with their app, it will literally tell you what aisle things are in - which is so helpful). One of my coworkers has done Door Dash sporadically, if she is out and about anyway, she will do it. She was saying that it's all NO-CONTACT since COVID, and with any issues - they have to contact the restaurant and figure it out with them. Which is nice. Have you ever worked for any of these places? Please do tell me about your experience if so.

I have drove for Uber and Door Dash. I did Uber a while back, like 2 years ago or so and did the driving people thing. Of course that is different then the delivery. To me that was barely worth my time. That could be because I did not drive on Friday and Saturday nights, not really sure. I did do Door Dash a little here and there in May and June. I made okay money but since I was on unemployment I limited myself as to not earn to much and lose my unemployment. I would say if you are looking to make a little in your free time it is worth it, not sure you could earn enough to live on though. Good luck either way.

Thank you. YES - I would NOT drive people around. I just don't trust people like that, plus, like you said...a lot for a little pay. I have been trying to find something "to do" with my time that doesn't just involve shopping for crap I don't need but that is also productive. I have a full time job and a part-time job, but still have quite a few extra free hours. I am going to try Door Dashing this weekend for a couple hours and see what happens. I like the idea of it being NO CONTACT, so you can literally drop it on a door step and run away! He he!

@maezee Yeah, now in the way things are I would not drive people around either. Of course when I did it, it was before the virus. Oh yeah the no contact thing but some people still come to the door to get it from you so I would be aware that might happen to you.

We don't live in a city big enough for there to be any money in those things. When we were working in Panama City, we used Door Dash a couple of times. Walmarts app tells you what aisle things are in, so does Lowes. LOL

Does it? I didn't realize that Walmart's did. I should have known that EONS ago - I am ALWAYS looking for something that I can't find at Walmart, it's super frustrating! I guess Walmart's website scared me off from trying the app, since it's so difficult to find anything you're looking for on their website.

My sister in laws boyfriend works for Uber. He gets to choose what hours he works and loves it. He mainly works in the city and most of the customers are college kids at the campus.

I never work for any of these. I am an active buyer though. Still in process of curbing the habit.

Two of my sisters worked for Insta-Cart and one for Shipt. My two sisters stopped working for Insta-Cart because they said the pay wasn't worth it anymore and people could take back the tips they gave you. I have a friend who is currently working for Doordash now.

Did they happen to say anything about Shipt? Crazy that they can "take back" a tip, though. That sucks!

I think it is only available in the US so I have no experience with it.

In many cases I have used UBER EATS but, like with Target, usually the bigger companies ship items over a certain amount free and it will get to you in less than a week!

I *DO* use that for Target, only not for groceries (unless it's canned or boxed goods, but of course you can't get the fresh stuff in the mail). But I do love that feature for sure.

I have not done any of these jobs, but then I do not need the money. But I think any one of these things would be a fantastic gig for anyone who does.

I never work something like that. And I don't know about the income. But since pandemic a lot of people fired and join that kind of job. Good luck

Indeed! Surprisingly in my area, it seems like everywhere I look, some place is hiring.
