Maybe because I am a woman, I don't understand at all. I do understand the passion for the console but for the empty box too?
He did mentioned the box is empty and advertise it as something to prank your friend, so he's not lying at all.
But I still don't get it why someone want to buy the empty box for $30.
Someone really bought an empty PS5 box.

Maybe he wanted to resell it as art, in the style of Andy Warhol.

@DianneN maybe you haven't heard about someone buying ice online. Send by courier. Of course the ice turn into water by the time the buyer got it.
Makes you wonder why people bought something weird even though they know what they're doing to get

It's the law of demand and supply. If someone wants it and places value on it, then someone else who has it can let it go for the agreed upon price.
My husband bought lots of items that do not make sense to me, and I imagine it's the same for him when I buy my own stuff.
