What dish are you planning to make later?

I've watched a cooking video in FB a while ago and I'm interested to try that simple dish made from potato. The other ingredients are egg, some spices and seasoning, topped with grated cheese. Looks like an omelette. I'd like to try it with improvisation and how about spreading some tomato sauce on top ,ground meat, onion rings, and slice of green pepper? Do you think it's a good idea and will turn out well?

Potato and eggs? A Spanish omelette? It's pretty good as you avoid to spread tomato sauce on top and ground meat, the onion and the green pepper should be added with the potatoes.

@ZedSmart Absolutely, they cook with the other ingredients, put on top I do not believe it's a great idea.

@LadyDuck That's my thought only. There are only three ingredients I noticed from the video aside from salt and pepper. I think I can add more if I'll try it I supppose. But yes, I now realize that it's better if those will be incorporated rather than use them as toppings only. Would be a different taste.

I think it will created a better flavor if added too in the mixture rather than use it as garnishing only.

@prinzcy no onion there and the potato is strip/stick but looks similar. Maybe, it.all depends on your preference of ingredients but basically, the main ingredients and the procedure should be there.

It's a pity you don't give the name of the recipe you describe. It sounds to me rather like a Spanish Tortilla, made with potatoes only, rather than a mix of vegetables (potatoes, peppers, tomatoes &c) but it depends on whether it's made in a pan on the stove top or baked in the oven. I would try it exactly as the recipe at first and then think about adding things. The recipes for Spanish Tortilla often include onion, tomato and green and red peppers.
Spanish Omelette (Spanish Tortilla) is perfect served hot or cold, and so easy to make! Perfect for picnics, bbq's, or your Tapas menu!

@ZedSmart I would say that onion is essential! The recipe I linked to doesn't add cheese on top but that would be good, too. The other thing your description fits is called a Frittata, which is the Italian version ('frittata' just means 'fried' in Italian). It's cooked slightly differently from a Tortilla, but the result is very similar.

Actually the video is just short and quick and there's no description in it. I try to scroll back after it's gone but no way I can't find it but I'm sure there are three ingredients only aside from the salt and pepper. Thanks for the info.

I can't answer that for you, I won't eat half those things. I say make a small sample, and taste test it as you go.

The recipe shown one potato and one egg only. Just enough for one serving I think.

@ZedSmart Yeah. I am not sure if that qualifies as an omlet (you typically need three) but Like I said, try it, taste as you go, find out.

Sounds like a great idea. Sounds similar to a dish I saw on FB too, but this dish was a hamburger shaped into a bowl. They boiled white potatoes. They scrapped the inside of the cooked potatoes and placed them on top of the ground meat. Then they placed cheese and mushroom and placed the cook potatoes on top. They also added some aluminum foil around the ground beef to hold it in place and they baked it. They took the potatoes skins and dropped them into boiling water for about 3 minutes, afterward they filled the skins with Marinella sauce. I thought that was very creative and it looked very tasty.
