I am 56 and a half years old and still learn something new everyday, but I feel like I should have known this but I never knew it til yesterday. Did you know that there are more colors of tomatoes than red? I have a Misfits Subscription. I receive boxes of mismatched vegetables every two weeks. Within my box of vegetables this week, I received 3 orange tomatoes. I was so surprised. I wondered if they were stale. I then googled it and learned tomatoes can be orange and yellow.

Yes tomatoes are so tasty. I was surprised when my husband told me that one of the women he works with hates tomatoes.

@LeaPea2417 All tomatoes have the same taste, no matter the color. Some small Italian striped tomatoes are firmer, so better for the salads.

Ha ha I can't believe you have lived this long and only ever had red tomatoes! You can get orange ones and yellow ones too, and green ones (not just unripe ones but ones that are green when ripe) and even black, and striped ones, and also different shapes - round, flattened, ovoid or pear-shaped. And of course lots of different sizes. Have a look here for a few examples And did you know you can get red, orange, cream and purple carrots as well? Not to mention red-and-white-striped beets? And blue potatoes??

Very interesting, yes I knew about green ones but I only thought of them being unripe. I didn't know you could get ripe green ones.

Green tomatoes stirfried and coarsely blended with garlic and chillies makes a tasty dip or sandwich spead with cheese

Yes, have you ever eaten fried green tomatoes? We will make that with green tomatoes that haven't ripened yet.

I would think the tomatoes would taste the same no matter what color they are.

In the summer, our shop has a range of tomato colours in stock and I like to make a multi-coloured salad with them.
