Jason Burt who lives in Sacramento California is one very happy man who has the only known copy of his late grandfather who served in the military playing with a musical band near a battlefield in the Philippines during World War II during a battle which is kind of odd since the risk of musicians playing music near a combat is risky at best in terms of someone dying from an enemy weapon or friendly fire. Richard Burt who is the late grandfather who served in World War II as a musician with 20 other musicians performed their songs inside of a jungle tent near the end of the war. The recording of the songs played during the war was kept inside of the garage attic in the Burt home. Before Richard enlisted in the military, he was a student at the Juilliard school of music where he played the trumpet which made his grandson happy and inspired his grandson to learn about World War II history. Jason took the last copy of his grandfather's recording on vinyl. Jason took the vinyl record to sound engineers to update the music and work with the National World War II Museum in New Orleans to release the compact disc to have it up for a Grammy Award nomination for the 2022 awards show.

I agree with you since I learned something about musical bands playing music from a safe distance in battle.

I agree with you since I have never heard of bands playing music on a battlefield.

I agree with you since I do remember having a CD that has the late Glenn Miller playing music with a German disk jockey speaking in German about the songs that were played on the radio during World War II.

So much is lost over the years; it is good to find something like this. It is also hard to know what to do with such memorabilia sometimes. I have no kids, and I wonder what will happen to my collected stuff, when I am gone. I have some old short stories, written by my grandmother, nearly 100 years ago, of which, it would be sad to see those just tossed into a bin.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, a great many losses have been caused by such natural disasters over time, both to individuals, and to the whole World too.

The same here when some of my items like a vest that belonged to my late dad from World War II went missing from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
