I swept the kitchen floor

Just had to do a bit of sweeping at my house. Both halves of the kitchen, laundry room and some from the hallway. Do you have any idea how far a small Corelle saucer can shatter if it hits a ceramic tile floor? You do not want to know. I hope I got it all swept up. For any who do not know, Corelle is a name brand of a special glass made by Corning company. It originally was used to make tiles on space ships. It is supposed to be nearly indestructible, and ideal for dinnerware for families. The saucer that I knocked off the counter was about six inches in diameter. And it shattered, widely, into both large and very small bits. It must have hit the tile just right.

We have Corelle stuff here - I love it. We have hardwood floors - and I have been lucky many times when the bowls hit the ground, but it has happened . They are strong but not totally indestructible - but I can imagine how it would be landing on tile . Hope you got it all too!

I'm sorry your dish fell to the floor and broke. And yes I do know what it is like when that happens. I hope you were able to get it all swept up.

I exploded one once when I was twenty. I thought you could cook on top of the stove with it. I was wrong. Exploding glass mixed with oatmeal.

@GardenGerty Mom did the same as you, she was cooking a custard in a Pyrex over the stove and it exploded.

I would love to have this floor either replaced or have something resilient over it.

I know Corelle. We used to have a few plates from Corelle. It was really famous back then.

Yes, I can. Our house is all tile, and when a plate shattered, bits went in all directions, including our bedroom. My house is 1028 square feet. I hope you find everything you're looking for.

I am mostly sad for the extra work and the possibility of getting cut.

@GardenGerty I once broke a bowl way back and a mug recently and it really shock me to see the extent of the pieces that I have to clean. It seems like I broke more than one

How old was that piece or your correll dishes in particular? I had one break once. I think they break once they're older. You may want to run wet mop over the floor to fit those very small pieces just in case.

@GardenGerty lol I had a lot of typos in that which I've fixed. I was asking about the age of the dishes but maybe it's because you have a tile floor?

Some articles really do shatter when they break. I usually find I'm sweeping up bits for several days.
