Who Messed-up the Proper Way We OUGHT to View Politics?

In my idealistic brain, "Politics" is the management of the country (you probably call 'management of the country' "Government," and that also works; but ...) But people who watch the media these days know "Politics" as 'the government-workers' popularity-contest (where people decide whether they should continue to work in government). Who's to blame for making people believe that 'wrong' definition? The politicians for making the elections into a GAME? or the media for presenting the election to us as a GAME? I'm inspired to ask this when I get this text-message from ActBlue (when I responded to their 'invitation to join a notification-list' (to get updates on their group's news)): "Thanks for connecting w/ us! Now, click here for more on our campaign to defeat the GOP in 2022! (and a link where I can donate to ActBlue---a link I'm not going to share here, sharing 'ActBlue's about-page' instead)." https://front.moveon.org/about/?utm_source=front&utm_content=nav I'm thinking, 'Wait a minute! "DEFEAT the G.O.P."? No! I mean! even where I disagree with the GOP, I don't want to "defeat" them!' My idealist brain ALSO thinks the election is not 'a competition'; it's "a period of time where THE WHOLE 'COUNTRY' (or 'STATE' or 'CITY' or 'COMPANY' or whatever) decides who should be in which position ... I know we decide BY voting and going with 'the candidate who gets the most votes' (usually), but the MAIN THING about America is that we BELIEVE IN that chosen candidate 100% ... even if we DIDN'T personally vote for them!

I have no idea but through the years I have decided that politics is my least favorite subject and yet, I do have to see what is happening now and then and cannot completely ignore it,

Kinda. It's like a teacher "needs" to watch what's happening on the playground to know the best way to teach their students Geometry

Why should I believe that person? LOL I love politics, and not in a very idealistic way. But neither the US politics nor the way its citizens go about it appeal to me. I wish people were more down to earth...

No. I mean Yes, 'the thing that people do & CALL it "politics"' is a dirty game; but THAT is not "politics," it's some sort of childish popularity contest. Real Politics happens when decision-makers get together and decide what must be done in the community, and entrust those instructions to responsible community-members.
