I Need a Covid Test

The invitation has nothing to do with my discussion, but the Ice Princess designed it herself and insisted the printer use pink and gold, her favorite colors. She is such a pip! Anyway, I put off a colonoscopy during the pandemic, joy of joys, and went to talk to my gastroenterologist today. I have an appointment in July, but our hospital system still insists on covid tests even though the colonoscopy will be done in his clinic. I have heard they are very uncomfortable. Have you had one? I spent the entire pandemic staying safe just so I wouldn’t need that covid test and now look!

@DianneN My mother said that when she was hospitalized. She did not expect that the swab test actually hurts

You’re right. Colonoscopies never bothered me, nor the preparation. They put me out like a light every time. The darn covid test scares me the most. Too bad they couldn’t put me out for that.

Cute invitations!! Ugg, on your situation. I've been putting mine off too and hadn't thought about the covid testing, but I know that will be the rule at our clinic as well. My hubby had the rapid covid test and that is the one that goes way up your nose. I've heard the other one where you have to wait for results is not bad. But I'm guessing with the procedure, we will need rapid results. E

Thanks! I believe I will get the painful rapid test, too. Already my eyes are tearing, my nose hurts, and my brain aches. Nothing I can do about it.

I renounced to go to Italy because the Italian Customs police wants a certificate we had a Covid test performed no longer than 48 hours before crossing. Most people who had the test told me that it does not hurt, it's not nice but not too bad. This is a cute invitation.

@DianneN The idea to have a cotton swab up into my nose is not something I would appreciate. I am waiting for the saliva tests, I hope they will be soon distributed.

I wish I could postpone my procedure until the covid test becomes unnecessary, but I’m already overdue. I don’t blame you for not going to Italy. Thanks for the information, but I’m not looking forward to having cotton on a long stick shoved up my nose.

Even after being vaccinated, you can still get Covid. All the vaccination does is keep you from having long-term health problems if you do get Covid.

@DianneN Yes, they are very uncomfortable. I did have one and never want one again. I do blood tests instead to make sure I am ok. That is too bad that you need a Covid test for the colonoscopy. How are you feeling?

Yes, I had to have two colonoscopies over the space of 15 months as part of a study,..what a nightmare. I will never do another one. I will swallow the camera or take a test, but the colonoscopy was bad. I guess maybe it was the doctor I had, I do think some are relatively painless.

@DianneN No, this guy was an established doctor. I even told them to give me extra sedation because I wasn't knocked out easily.. Why are you worried about a Covid test? The swab think won't be fun, but I would rather have that than a colonscopy any day of the week!

So sorry about that! Perhaps the test was for the doctors to practice their first colonoscopies on people to see how they did. lol I've had several and none were a problem. I'd rather have one a month than have to get a covid test.

Have you ever had a test for the flu? If not, then I'd say, yeah. The COVID test is the same as they use the flu. (cotten swab up the nose)

@DianneN I've never had that done either. I know the true " diagonistic" test is cotten swab up the nose. However, my husband has been tested twice and the mobile unit that came to Pizza Hut, did the rapid finger stick test.

Wow! That’s a lot of tests! I’m fully vaccinated, but the doctor says they still must test for covid. The US has a lot of lunatics running around who refuse to get the vaccine. They believe it’s against their civil rights and some believe the vaccines are not safe. Others are Trump supporters.

I've had several colonoscopies; and if they're done right, you won't feel a thing. Unfortunately, in my case, I was not given enough anesthesia for most of them; and it was very uncomfortable. Insist on the anesthesia. They don't like to give a lot because they want you up and out ASAP; but it's not fair. The covid test will be over in seconds. The prep, to me, (for the colonoscopy) is as bad as the test itself.
