My trip to Port Clinton

Went to a place called Port Clinton Ohio yesterday. It's about an hour from where I live. I used to go there a lot when I was a kid but as an adult, I've only been there a few times. If anyone read my post about Harley Dilly about a year ago that's where he was from.
It's right off of Lake Erie. We first went to my uncle who lives about twenty minutes from there. His wife has what my dad refers to as a "junk shop" she has a lot of stuff you might find at garage sales and some of it is basically junk and other things are sort of like treasures in the rough. I found a lot of old collectors items. It would be a garage saler's dream shop. My husband bought an old camcorder there. We then went to this park right across from the beach. It had probably one of the coolest playgrounds I've been to. My son loved it. We then crossed the street to the beach and walked along the sand. You could make out Davis Besse in the distance. Davis Besse is a nuclear power station. My son was fascinated with it.
I took a few pictures of the beach and the playground. The park also has a little stand that serves hotdogs, snacks, and beach gear. I managed to get a small sun burn while there looking for my son's phone which he lost. We had the GPS tracking turned on and managed to find it. We took it away for a little bit as a reminder to him to keep track of it.
I would have liked to stop in Marblehead to see the lighthouse but we didn't get the chance to. I want to say there's a spot that way where you can see Cedar Point (an Ohio amusement park for those that don't know it's one of the biggest rollar coaster parks in the nation if not the world). I think I'll be taking another trip there before the summer is over. I'd like to get my nieces and take them with us I think they'd enjoy it. On our way home we stopped at Denny's in Fremont for dinner. Fremont is also the home of the former US president Rutheford B Hayes museum, I'd like to eventually take my son there too. I went on a field trip once in the sixth grade it was really neat. We were beyond exhausted when we got home.

Yes, that's Davis Besse and most I want to say are that size at least here I think. They have considered closing it many times over the years but have kept it open. I think it draws too much money for the city and there are too many jobs that would be lost if they closed it. I don't know all of the reasons but that would be my guess. It's much safer than say Chernobyl was. They learned a lot from Chernobyl. The US has only ever had one near incident or I guess it was an incident but they caught it before it could have consequences like Chernobyl it was on three mile island in Pennsylvania and that incident is what brought a lot of new regulations for nuclear power plants into play he in the US. My husband knows a lot more about it all than I do and was explaining to our son how it worked.

@sissy15 Yeah I guess they are pretty much safer than in other countries. I think the US is really in need of power to supply that is why they have to really make good use of nuclear energy to provide for the needs of your country. Anyway, for as long as you can safely maintain them I guess there is no harm harnessing its power to good use. I am glad you were also able to enjoy the place where you used to travel to before.

@rsa101 There's a lot of controversy over them but I think overall they are pretty safe here in the US. It helps that we don't get hurricanes where I'm at. We aren't near the ocean. We are near lake Erie but not an ocean. We do however get tornadoes but I don't think there have been any real issues with it actually being able to damage it. I think one hit it once but didn't do much damage. Places like the US have the technology to keep them running. They don't make power plants like Chernobyl anymore because of Chernobyl.
