How's your weather?

A large storm swept through last night... It started, again, with hail and then decided to pee all over us. That would have been okay, except it broke these three flower stalks down. (They're Gladioli spikes from my Gladiolus plants.) I took this photo right after we rescued them from the ground this morning so they still need to be trimmed down. (We don't have a vase for flowers this tall.) Would you like to come over and enjoy them with me? Photo is mine.

I love your flowers. It’s a less humid day here and there will be an evening rain they are saying.

Thank you. The storm last night dropped our temp down to 20C but left the high humidity with us. I hope your rain is a gentle one.

@marlina We weren't happy about the high humidity this morning, either. We had to make a run to the store first thing. (I wanted an ice cream cone for breakfast. )

Thank you! We need to trim them down so they fit in my steel mug better. (It's the only thing we had that's heavy enough they won't turn it over.) This is the second storm we've had in the week that started by throwing hail at us.

@DianneN Where were you growing them? Our winter gets cold enough we have to dig the corms up and keep them inside or they'll die. When it sounds like someone's trying to break every window in the house, we tend to get up and look outside to make sure what's happening. We live one house over from an all-night convenience store. You never know what's going to show up off the interstate.

@DaddyEvil I used to grow them and then they stopped coming up for some reason. I do understand about trimming them. lol My son told me he was visiting his girlfriend last night when they had a big thunderstorm. If we had one, I must have slept through it. Totally exhausted!

Thank you. Pretty and I like flowers and often brought them in at the other house... This house is too small for us to feel like we have the room to bring in anything we don't need in the house. I'm sure the white ones are lovely.

@DaddyEvil Maybe they skipped this year because of so much rain? Weird!! Your Oxalis is pretty! I think one of the twins has some of this and I think she left some at the house in LA. I will have to check on that!

@kareng Thank you. There are supposed to be a third color of oxalis. Besides the green and purple there is supposed to be a silvery-pink one, too. I just haven't been able to locate any of that one yet. If she did, take some of it home with you. Oxalis adds a nice taste to salads or as a garnish on meats. It has a type of sour taste that's refreshing. Leaves, flowers and the bulb/tuber can be eaten.

Thank you... I prefer to leave those outside. I really don't have the room in this house to keep them but can't let them die when they're so pretty. I'm glad there are still seven or eight more spikes that haven't started opening yet out there. I wonder why yours haven't started blooming? I thought your flowers bloomed before mine? Have I shown you my pot of oxalis in bloom? I thought I was losing the plants but brought them outside and now they're going crazy! Oxalis in bloom. Photo is mine.

Thank you. The rain doesn't upset us... it's the hail that bothers us. When it started, we thought someone was pounding on our windows, so ran to open the door so they'd stop. The hail doesn't last long but the storms don't need it to alert us it's going to rain. If you need the rain, I hope you get some.

@DaddyEvil Ok, good! I just have to wash it out though . . . it hasn't been used in a while! The top is about a 5 inch diameter. It could probably accommodate our sunflowers, but I don't have to heart to chop any of them down. Let's see . . . right now at 9:40am it's about 75F. Humidity is almost 60%. It's supposed to be to something like 92F later - which is actually cooler than it has been for us .

@much2say I understand. I never intended to bring in any of the gladiolus but what can you do when Mother Nature says to take them inside and enjoy them? *sigh* It's right at noon here and 75F with 98% humidity. We're supposed to hit 85F sometime this afternoon. If you want to come enjoy the cooler climate, you're more than welcome... (We walked down to the end of the yard this morning and looked at the ditch back there. I think the water's still deep enough to swim in but I touched it and it's COLD! )

Those are pretty blooms. My weather today will be eventually warm but not hot if that makes sense. It's been 110 to 112 so 99 is pure bliss at this point. It's also hazy so I am quite worried about the presence of fires in the area.

Thank you. Oh, my! You all need to come stay with us for a while. (I'm not sure where we'd put you, but we'd figure it out once you got here.) It's not quire 1 pm here and the temp is 75F. (After it hailed last night, the temp dropped to around 50F until this morning early. It was 67F at 7:30 am, when we got up.) The only trouble you all might have here is the humidity. It's at 98% right now.

@DocAndersen I think I need more practice at it. I tried to push some of the rain yesterday to Malaysia but couldn't get it past the Ozarks Mountains. I think I caused some flooding over there. If you feel like helping me push, the myLotters over there say they really need some rain.

@Butterfingers In that picture, can you see the white places on the pavement in front of my car? Those are fountains of water pushing up through the pavement. There is so much water in the ditches beside the road and coming down that the underground drains are too full and pushing water back out. I had to turn around and find a different street so I could go to my doctor's office that day.

Thank you... Yeah, I'm still upset about it breaking them off. I like flowers in the house just fine but those were meant, by me, to stay outside. We don't even have a vase big enough for them. That's my steel drinking glass. It's the only thing we could find heavy enough to keep them from falling over.
