We nearly had to sleep with a saucepan between us

There is always something happening in life it seems. We went away in our caravan last Thursday. Vince had forgotten there was a cable on the caravan that he needed to fix. However, it wasn’t too important so off we went. In the evening, following some torrential rain, I found a tiny wet spot on the bed. A vent directly above, which we’ve never needed to open, had decided to spring a leak. It was actually very minor and we fixed it by stuffing a paper towel in the area. I joked that we might have needed to put a saucepan between us to catch the drips. Neither of us wanted to sleep on the wet patch! Then, in the morning, our diesel heater refused to heat so we know what we’re doing for the next few days! The photos are from the ‘beginners’ jumping’. ‘Jumping’ is probably a bit of a stretch of the truth but the riders would have been pleased with themselves. And huge kudos to the helpers who smiled the whole time they were getting soaked. The young lass in the lower two photos never stopped for the two days and was never without a smile. I was only able to take the photos from the shelter of a shed. You can see it was really quite heavy rain by the time I took the last two shots.

She does look really happy. It must be so very rewarding to help people who otherwise could not have ridden a horse.

My motto to life "there is always something. I even have my sister saying that now. I laugh when I here her say it. Pretty horses I rode one when I was a kid. Homey was a giant. I am not sure most people know how big horses are and the funny thing they said my horse was small and if you seen them up close there is some giant horses and I am like how do people handle that much power no wonder wild west was so crazy seeing the size of some of these horses. Such neat creatures. They up their with dogs, dolphins, gorillas, and elephants in my book.

Horses are wonderful animals. The horse I learnt to ride on was an old cart horse called Trixie. Here is a photo of us.

@JudyEv Sweet she a giant too. she might be the size I rode. I know when St. Louis brings out the horses for the baseball games ,Clydesdales, those horses are huge.

@crossbones27 And even when they are so huge, they still let themselves be controlled by puny humans.

At least you got a few photos, I am kind of surprised they didn't cancel the outdoor portion of the events.

This was the last of anything held outdoors. It was just too wet after that.

Kudos to all those participants and volunteers for braving the rain to continue engaging in the event. Many people would have just given up and gone home to the dry comfort of their houses.

After this, everything was held under the big roofed arena but yes, they all stayed cheery and positive.

Here we are tackling heat and humidity. There you are tackling cold, rain and leakages! I just hope that you do not get too wet in the rains. How are the participants coping? They must be finding it very tough to handle the weather situation.

When this group had finished, all the events were then held in the arena under a roof so no-one got any wetter.

It was only a tiny leak and Vince has fixed it himself with Silastic, a flexible silicone/plastic compound designed for such purposes. It might be called something else in your country.

Thanks. We had heating in the evening but may not have had it next evening so it made sense to come home. Vince has fixed it now. Apparently it just needed to reset it itself. Duh!

What I forgot to say was that the heater worked in the evening and I went to sleep without the blankets on as I was hot. When I flipped the sheet over me later, unbeknown to me, the end landed in my cup of water and through the night soaked up the water so in the morning, the whole corner of the sheet was wet. You couldn't have flipped it into the cup if you'd tried but it managed to get in by itself.
