Do you still listen to CDs?

I usually listen to music on Spotify or on YouTube, but I still have many CDs. We used to listen to them in our car. In the past my husband didn't have a phone charger for the car so he couldn't listen to music on his phone. Now we have phone chargers for both phones, and we usually listen to music on our phones when we drive. We keep our CDs in a CD rack above the stereo, and I remove the dust each time I clean the house, but we don't listen to them anymore. We might donate some of them to a second hand store. The second hand stores here still sell CDs (and cassette tapes) I want to keep a few of the CDs. One of them is a special CD that wasn't sold in the stores. My grandmother is one of the singers and she used to sing in a band. They also arranged a concert, and I was there. They were not famous, but the singers were able to buy the CDs for their families, and my grandmother gave me one of them. I want to keep that one, but I might donate many of the other CDs. Do you still listen to CDs? Do you remember the first CD you bought?

I still listen to CD's. I still have casette tapes and vinyl too. I like to listen to albums sometimes. A playlist can be fun and I sometimes listen to select songs but it's pretty rare. You sure can accumulate a lot of music over 50 years. I like physical copies best. I know I'll always have them. The first record I bought was Simon and Garfunkle. The first casette I bought was Crosby, Stills and Nash. The first CD I bought was Dire Straits.

@myklj999 I bought that one too. I still have it. Hahah My older brother bought reel to reels before he got his player too. When he finally got his player, everyone was already on to 8-tracks. I have two 8-tracks that somehow never got tossed. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Marshall Tucker Carolina Dreams.

I never bought anything by Simon and Garfunkel, but I have some Dire Straits CDs somewhere. I started collecting music about 30 years ago. My first record was Depeche Mode and my first CD was Gary Moore. I don't remember the first cassette I bought. The first cassette I owned was Boney M and it was a present from a friend.

@Porcospino My first purchase was in the late 1960's or early 70's. Like Myk, I still have a pretty good sized vinyl collection too. A vinyl album seems more intimate than other recordings.

We have lots of them but no way to listen to them at present. Our last CD player broke down several years ago. So now, unlike in your home, ours gather dust.

The first CD I ever bought ... well, the first one I ever 'picked out' (paid for by my parents or with 'chore'-money) was Michael Jackson's BAD. The first one I ever bought with 'my current income' (money I get from settlement for my injury) was CALLING ALL STATIONS from Genesis (which I only found out was put out after Phil Collins left them ... still good music, but not Phil Collins ) We've got a few BOOKSHELVES full of CDs, but we only listen to music on The Cloud (or The Internet, if we're still calling it 'that'). How much do those things go for (if we put em up on eBay or Amazon or something)?

I have some Michael Jackson CDs, but not Bad. You mentioned Phil Collins and Genesis. I wanted to buy a Phil Collins CD when I got my first stereo, but I ended up buying Gary Moore instead. I will probably just donate most of my CDs. I don't have any rare CDs, and I don't think I would get much money for them. Some CDs are more valuable than others, but I don't know much people pay for them.

I don't know ganna or wynk. Are they music streaming services like Spotify? We also have some areas in the countryside where the internet doesn't work or doesn't work well. There aren't many of those places left here, but my husband's aunt used to live in one of them and she couldn't listen to music online.
