Another 34

United States

Hubby came home yesterday and spent the night rather than spending the night at a truck stop. He had to pick up a load this morning and left here at 3:30. We are able to follow his travels through an app that we have in our phones. I noticed he was not on his usual route west and was heading home. When he got here at 12:30 I asked why he was home and he answered, “because I can!” He said he was really tired and his legs were feeling weird. Our guess is it’s from the second Pfizer shot. He had called his dispatcher and he told them what was going on. Because the load doesn’t need to be to the terminal until the end of the month they let him do another 34 reset. So, he is fast asleep and I don’t expect see him until dinner at best. At least he was close to home when the symptoms started. Glad that he works for a company that understands when you are sick, you need to rest and take care of yourself.

And just what is a "34 reset"?

@BarBaraPrz yes it does. He usually needs to take this break when he is out on the road. Nice to have him be able to take it at home.

It is time down from driving. Truckers need to take a good chunk of time from driving, this is in addition to their sleep time and half hour breaks.

@ElusiveButterfly Thank you. So, does that refer to 34 hours?

I'm glad he was able to come home and the company understands. Having those symptoms and driving is a dangerous combination.

I was happy that he chose to come home rather than push himself.

Does his place require the shot?

No they don’t require the shot. Little Miss pleaded with him to get it. He broke down and got it for her.

I am glad he could come home and rest. I believe you are right that it is because of Pfizer shot.

I really don't think he would have been able to sleep in the truck this hit him while further away from home. Glad he was close enough to come home.

@LadyDuck He doesn't sleep well on the road. I doubt I could sleep in a bunk on an uncomfortable mattress either.

It took him until Monday to finally feel better. He left for Wisconsin last night.

It took him a couple of days to fully recover. He was back on the road at 10:00 last night.

He finally felt good yesterday after another night of good sleep. I don't think he would have been able to rest as well if he had to sleep in the truck.

@Marilynda1225 really didn't see much of him for the first 24 hours! But, was able to spend time together on Monday when Little Miss was in school.

@ElusiveButterflynothing beats a good night sleep in your own bed. I'm sure you were happy to have him home for awhile too.

He could feel his body reacting to the shot when he was doing a pick up in Devens, MA. He called his dispatcher and told him he was heading home to rest. Took him 2 days to get better.

@DianneN I was fatigued, had the chills and body aches. He had the same thing I guess.

@ElusiveButterfly Sorry he had a reaction. No problem with us except my son’s FIL, but he has heart issues.
