Coffee is officially banned from my classroom / myLot

I wrote on Friday that there was a girl fight in my classroom. I'm still not sure how it all began but at one point one of the girls threw her cup of coffee at the other one.

I got it stopped immediately, got security to deal with them, and got a custodian to help me clean up the coffee. My classroom smelled like hazelnut coffee for the rest of the day.

I posted a message to all of my classes on Google Classroom later that day: "No coffee is allowed in my classroom!" The now-suspended student who threw the coffee replied with "my bad".

She is a nice kid. I had her last year and she failed but she never gave me any problems. She just didn't do anything and skipped the Google Meets as often as she didn't. She was upset as she was taken out of my room and whispered to me "I swear I'm not a bad person". I know she isn't. She just can't bring her coffee to class any longer.

“My bad”? I know a hundred people who’d whip her butt for wasting coffee that way!!!!

@TheSojourner — you’ll appreciate this. There was this filmy stuff in the coffee pot, so as a young recruit I told my master chief I was going to clean the coffee pot. He was from Alabama, and he came out of his chair and said in that very southern accent, “If you TOUCH that coffee pot to clean it I’ll courts-martial you!”

I had only been in the Navy for four months, better than half of which was in boot camp and apprenticeship school. What did I know???

I tell my brother he never has to worry about colon cancer thanks to JP5 coffee from the aircraft carriers.
