Bag of bones

Bag of bones, bucket of bones and even a plastic box of bones.
I am working on cleaning out the freezer and I have turkey bones I have saved to make bone broth. Actually I am looking for something I am sure I bought but cannot find in the freezer, so as I move things around, I was surprised by these turkey carcasses that need to be boiled down. It will make some great soups this winter.
So I have my biggest cooking/canning pot on the stove, with bones, and water. I will likely add some herbs. This is my unintended activity for today.

I will do something like that tomorrow. I just found a chicken carcass that I placed in a smaller container .

When I read the title, I was thinking that you were doing some decorating for Halloween.

Nope, not me. No bones and gravestones. I am not opposed to some pumpkins and spiders, though.

Yes, I put all the bones in my biggest pot, covered with water, added some herbs. I will cook it for a lot of hours, then strain it and put it in containers in my freezer to cook soups and other food with all winter. Lots of extra protein.

I did eventually fing it. It was a package of brats, but I had accidentally put it in with my frozen vegetable packages.

Enjoy making the bones and soups on the stove. I thought of making soup for next week too.

It is that time of year. It makes good use of what we have as well.
