Do You Have To Think Yourself Happy?

Sometimes, I just have to think myself happy. Life can be overwhelming at times. Today, being Thanksgiving and I feel blessed, but then there are things that just creep up, and take you by surprise. This morning my husband called at 7.30AM wanting us to come and pick him up. I had explained that he hadn't received his booster shot yet. The nurse called me, because I just got vexed with all the calling. Have you ever dealt with a person, who wants what he wants and when. So the nurse said she will check when they can get the boosters. Some may think me hard, but there was a time that the nurses could help put patients into cars. But they stopped and so a lot of people were unable to leave the nursing home. The nurse told me today that she would help us, so that makes it so much easier. I thought about her, and it made me happy. Because we used to do it that way. r

I don't have to think about it, I'm just happy most of the time.

It's good that the nurse could help you. I wonder if that is a fairly universal thing or specific to that facility regarding helping residents into cars. My only experience of that was the other way around--help extricating my (now late) MIL from our car upon our return from an outing. It was several years ago that happened. It took two or three staff members and us to get her out of the car.

Happiness comes from within, but many outside things get in its way. I hope the day works out well for you.

I have an idea your husband has lost both his legs. I can't imagine how you could cope on your own in those circumstances .

I could not. But he does not see it like that.

The problems, the anxiety, the responsibilities, they never stop, we have to learn to find happiness and to enjoy ourselves through it all, and not wait for it to end, because it won't.

I'm so sorry, this all has to be impossibly difficult for you and your family. If you do allow him to have a visit, how will you get him to go back there again? Will he go willingly?

Not taking any chances. He will get here and not go back, he don't care as long as he had his way. They have a rule, if you're not bsck by a certain time he will lose his bed.
