That skin cancer will cost me a lot. One doctor less.

I found out yesterday that the skin cancer that I have in one of my cheeks is not much covered by any health insurance. As it is not "deadly", let the poor people live with them There are 2 ways of taking them out. One, the least expensive one, costs me a trip to Aruba and back. I have to see how much it costs to use the best surgery. Probably a King´s ransom. And as I have begun to make lists of things, I just made a list of the doctors I have to see now. I guess I´ll have to start getting appointments to doctors, one by one. I hope I can find a companion for a trip to Aruba later on and money enough to go. Now I´ll go to the kitchen to cook some rice. See you later.

@sammyy Tomorrow I´ll ask the cost of the better way. And then I´ll talk it over with my doctor. I´m not a movie star to want a plastic surgery.. That is, if I considered plastic surgery, I´d have a list. I´m 76 years old

The doctor (my all the time dermatologist) does the usual job where I have more cover by the unsurance. But she also heads an awesome clinic where they work with the latest procedures. That will have to come out of my own pocket. Next week I´ll call to ask for the price. And then I´ll call the doctor again to understand fully the prognosis of both procedures as beauty goes. The cancer is in the cheek but I´m not so young. I´ll have her explain the results.

@marguicha It's good that you're doing a lot of checking before having the procedure.

Anything more than a bandaid and an antibiotic seems to cost big bucks these days. Good idea to go somewhere where the surgery is cheaper and probably better.

Seriously???????? That sounds so idiotic. “Non-fatal” cancer can quickly become fatal cancer. Cancer doesn’t have a brain, so it doesn’t know it’s supposed to stay in that one place and not affect your life. I’m absolutely flabbergasted that you’d be told that. Chalk up one for the U.S. healthcare system.

We seem to do nothing but go to appointments lately. I think we're done now for a few weeks.

I want to check my arthriticpains too. I don´t even know if I have to go to a reumathologist or a bone doctor or whatever they are called.

I'm so sorry to hear that, that sucks! And what do they mean is not deadly? People do die from it, how can the insurance companies discriminate like that? I hope you find an affordable treatment. Keep us posted.

Health insurance does not mean that they are run by nice people who want to have the population healthy. There are people who want to profit with the health of others, and I don´t mean only in my country. Doctors discover new ailments or how to cure them before insurance companies are willing to cover the cost of them.
