Lots of free things while I was out yesterday

My car wouldn’t start the one night so I took it to the garage. It started up every time for them but was chugging and it didn’t have any codes come up when they ran it through the computer. They didn’t charge me for that which was very nice! He said to put dry gas in and maybe change the spark plugs. We had such few ingredients in the house it was hard to plan meals. So I was so glad to be able to go get groceries yesterday. While I was shopping I found a body lotion on clearance for $2.10 that I will add to the gifts I’m giving the third girl in the adopt a senior event. There’s a place in an old house and garage that you pay a $2 donation per bag and can take anything you want as long as you don’t resell it. I hadn’t been there in 10 years or more. I went yesterday and they were giving out free food as well so I got some cheese, sour cream, eggs, milk, crescent rolls and cottage cheese. Inside the building I got the baby some clothes to grow into and a large stack of books. On a local free group someone was giving away a set of brand new onesies. A second person was giving away a baby toy brand new. A third person was giving away new boxes of drink mixes. I got lucky and they let me have these things that you can see in the photo. The onesies were needed bad as the baby is outgrowing everything lately. The toy is for her for Easter. A friend of mine her grandchild is no longer eating baby food so she offered it to me. I was happy to accept it. I spent $255 on the groceries at Walmart and didn’t have much to show for it so I was feeling so blessed with all the free things I got.

@marlina I spent so much time at the $2 donation place that after shopping at Walmart my feet were so sore I was limping. I need new shoes and arch support inserts.

@RebeccasFarm the hydration drink mixes my husband had be buy went up $2 a package. These rising prices are horrible! I have so many pretty onesies but it being cold out she’s wearing them under her clothes and many of her clothes are pale so the designs show through. So I was glad to get these plain white ones!

@RebeccasFarm wow that is really expensive. I just buy the cheap white bread at Aldis for 95 cents. My husband hates it and buys special kinds of bread at our local supermarket that is really expensive. Then he doesn’t use it up in time and it molds .

@LadyDuck yes it’s so nice to have this group where people give things away they don’t want. I have so much to give away myself. I have a bag almost full now to give a girl who is expecting a baby girl very soon.

@LadyDuck pretty soon a thrift shop will be opening here in town. The proceeds should go to helping people in the community who are low income with assistance for fuel oil. It will also go towards Easter dinner and Christmas dinner and presents for the kids. It will be nice to have a place like that here to donate things to.

@shaggin - I have a large beach bag where I put everything I do not need. Time by time I sort what is inside and I bring to the local charity.

That's indeed a blessing. And such a nice gesture on part ot these people who share it for free. Well, if one cannot use, it's better to give it to someone who will value it. That's a lot of free things

@shaggin That's so nice. They will find people who can use them. Next week is for cleaning and decluttering around the house. I am going to have few boxes ready for donations... it's mostly clothes, old shoes, books and some kitchen plates and pans.

wow you really raked it in. I wonder if they have such places here. I've only known about the food bank where you can go at times and get a few things that are bare nessesities and sometimes not even anything you would normally use.

@bunnybon7 they have lots of things here. We are lucky. Maybe it’s due to being such a low income area.

@Tina30219 some places charge to run it through the computer so I was lucky they didn’t. I know one place had to run the codes twice to find out what was wrong with my dads car years back and they charged him $100 each time. So rotten!

@shaggin That is crazy I mean come in how are you going to find out what is wrong without getting the scan then if it is something expensive you had them doing the scan and parts.

@DianneN It really was amazing I got so lucky they chose me to have the things they listed for free. They can pick anyone that comments that they want so I was happy to be chosen. I usually choose the first person to comment and it seems these two did the same.

@nela13 yes I appreciate these free things I got so much. I told my husband the cost of the groceries I got and he said “that’s disgusting” and it truly is. One thing I got the box of 6 went up by $2. The costs just keep rising
