I Just Tested Positive For Covid19

United States
May 1, 2022 3:13pm CST
I posted the other day that we came back from the cruise and my husband caught a cold. Now I am not so sure that's what it is. On Friday I woke up feeling awful. I had chills, body aches and was exhausted. Yesterday was better because I didn't have chills but was still achy and tired. Then last night I started with a stuffy nose. Today my nose is much runnier and I am tired. I had to go pick up some prescriptions so I picked up a home Covid test also (through the drive thru window) and it came back positive. I think my husband's cold is also probably Covid19. Knowing what it is has actually made me feel better. I am glad I have been vaccinated for Covid19 and got the booster shot. I am afraid my symptoms could have been much worse if I hadn't. Have you had Covid19?

@celticeagle Thanks. We are all set now. I hope you don't get Covid, but if you do, it should be a lesser case since you have had your shots.

Before, my family and I claimed to have it. But I think it is a false positive.

I am sorry, I hope you will get well soon. Both my husband and I did not get Covid, my niece had it (from her 2 years old daughter). My niece has been miserable for almost 2 weeks, she is vaccinated.

@Kouponkaren I am sorry that you got it but you are right if you did not get the shot then it could be very worse. I had 4 shots and hope I never get it. I try to stay away from people. I wish they would understand how serious this is and how some people like to stay away from people and wear a mask because they do not want to get the corona virus.

@Hannihar I think we will just stay with the 3 shots we have had, especially now that we have both had it and hopefully have built up some antibodies.

No I haven't. Not that I'm aware of. Had a nasty cold several months ago.

@Kouponkaren I never spiked a fever or got any flu symptoms, either. I just had a stuffed up nose a little longer then usual, but I was busy so couldn't take cold medicine as often as I would've normally.

@kaylachan Well, if you didn't take the Covid test, you might have actually had Covid. That's how it hits a lot of people...as a nasty cold.

@Kouponkaren Not a bad one. The worst I felt was about 2 weeks after my second shot. And that was a common side effect of that. But I know one woman who though she had a sinus infection that she gets a lot of years in the fall. The doctor had her go get tested and it came back as covid. She said it felt like a normal sinus infection all the way through for her.

@wolfgirl569 A lot of people get it as a bad cold. Have you had a bad cold in the past 2 years? You may have had it...not not. I am glad I took the test so I know for sure.

@Kouponkaren She is indeed, needed to wait a few weeks after the covid cleared before getting the jab

@Ronrybs Oh, is she still going to get the 4th booster even though she has had Covid? I don't think I will but haven't really figured that out yet.

Glad your symptoms mild as well as your husband's symptoms, mild! Get well soon! Yes had mild covid, rushed to emergency & pronounced with mild covid. Got 4 omicov shots, observed, sent home at midnight. I've no car, depends on my cousin for ride home. As he & icu people spoke so he can be safe, I rode in the back of his pickup truck. He didn't catch covid-19 and is on vacation now, my 1 ride is on vacation. My healthcare plan has transportation, but not for covid patients from hospital to home. Currently, trying to get this kind of transportation... nothing for it, at all, yet.

I hope this passes quickly and easily for you. I think I had Covid in Feb 2020 before testing was readily available. I was unvaccinated at the time, and I have never been so sick in my life--then I had about a year of long covid--if you are vaccinated, it may not be a walk in the park, but I suspect it will be fairly mild--take care of you and your husband.

@divalounger I am sorry you were so sick with it. We have recuperated now. We both still have a bit of congestion but that's it. It wasn't as bad as I had expected but yes, probably because we have both been vaccinated.

@ShyBear88 My husband says he just had a cold the week before I got sick. He refused to take a Covid test and now we don't know if he had it but are just assuming he did and that I got it from him.

@Kouponkaren I wouldn’t try to speculate lots of people con I contact but never actually have it. Both of my kids recently were sick one was tested for just strep that was negative and the other the fallowing week was test for strep, flu, and Covid because she was way sicker then her brother. All of those came back negative so it was two kids with colds.

@xFiacre I had a terrible reaction to the 2nd shot. The booster wasn't as bad. The first 2 days of having Covid I felt the same way as when I got the second shot.
