Rant: Pointing His Finger @ Me...What?!?

A 10-year-old young boy is pointing his finger at me. I have been patient in teaching young learners online despite their overload rudeness. This bad gesture of his is not acceptable, so I call his attention to stop or else I will drop the class. Good thing, he stopped ruining my temper. I really stressed this phrase hardly to him, 'Don't point your finger at someone else.' What you do not as others do unto you? How would you feel if someone do this to you? People point all the time. It's only rude if you want it to be rude. *shrug*

@Shavkat As the teacher, you make that decision. Surely you're allowed to punish a misbehaving student?

@Shavkat You handled it very well by calling his bluff. If he continued to do it would you really drop the class? Why was he pointing his finger at you and disrupting the class?

Too bad that he is aware of it. He is one of my rotten students of mine. Sad to say it, but it is true.

You do seem to have some very rude students. Is it the fault of the parents? Treating you as a sort of servant?

I think the parents are fault because they are not around during the classes online.

@JudyEv I really cannot get why some parents are so lenient with their kiddies.

@Shavkat I see. I would down on my child like a ton of bricks if he was rude to a teacher.

What you do is not an easy job it seems because you have to with difficult students. You have a lot of patience.

I just ignore them and go with the flow. The most important thing is to pay me and nothing else.

You have more patience than I do. This does sound rude to me, coming from a child.

If this is a rude gesture in your culture he needs to know it and stop it. You drew boundaries well.

I wouldn't mind, especially if the kid doesn't know it's rude. If they know and persevere, well, that's frustrating.

@Shavkat That's frustrating but he's just a kid being a kid. For some reason, they think defying any authority is fun. Maybe he'll stop if you ignore him.

@sabtraversa I do ignore him a couple of times during the class. He did stop. It seems some modern kiddies are mutants as compared before.

This is extremely rude especially to a teacher. Teachers have to correct students and you did a good job correcting students.

Just because you cannot spank him over the wire, he is throwing such tantrums. If it was an offline class, he wouldn't get so cocky.

I am sure he will see my evil side. Sometimes ignoring is the best way to tame a child like him.
