I think 3 cats are too much for my father.

As most of you know I just came from a nursing home from my stroke. I really can't do what c I used to do. My father has three cats and he can't take care if them or himself. Let alone me. I am still after the social worker to get me a caregiver. She is not calling back. The problem is one cat is throwing up on my rings inside and my father not cleaning that up or changing their drinking water. I am very frustrated. If my mother was alive it would not be this way.

I am sorry to know. Ask someone to adopt them if your father is not able to take care of them.

Very tough on me. I have a place to live. But the cats are a problem. My father's thinking is off.

I hope you can get a caregiver and that might help you somewhat. Dealing with an aging parent is difficult especially when they are so set in their ways they don't realize it's jeopardizing their (or your) well being. I hope you can find a solution

@Marilynda1225 I used to see how he was in denial his mother had dementia. The sister used to cry. Now I hope he doesn't have to be around a lengthy time with it. The mother lived to 103. I can't handle it to long.

I am sorry you're having to put up with this. It would be good if the social worker would do her job and call back.

@CookieMonster46 Sometimes those in charge of such things seem very uncaring.

I don't know where you are, but every state has adult protective services. You can call and they will help you, they even send out someone to see you if needed. They can check on your situation and on your father. And possibly help speed things up to find a caregiver. I wish you the best.

It's not good. 3 cats are too many to handle. How could it be solved?

I'm sorry he can't keep up with them. He must love them a lot to want to keep them around. I hope your social worker calls you back soon, can call a supervisor or someone else to say you are not getting the help you need.
