Guilty, your honor!

After months of hiatus, I am back. Only to find out that I am guilty of violating a mylot guideline and have been guilty for a long time. Thanks to @LadyDuck for suggesting the admin's post. There are times when I would respond to a comment in my discussion just to say thank you. Not once, not twice, too many times. I think sometimes it's the polite thing to do. Sometimes I would reply using just the mylot code, or what we commonly call the emoji or emoticon. I get so engrossed in the discussion that I end up forgetting that mylot has rules! Now that I'm back, will have to stick to that rule. Coz I don't want to be "the problem" in this site.

Welcome back Tony. I am guilty of the same. Often after a pretty long threat I end with a Thank You. I am trying to remember that this is against the rules.

@LadyDuck that’s good to know that they’re never deleted. The whole time i was here today, i kept reminding myself to avoid that as well.

@toniganzon I have to remind myself to avoid the "Thank You" and "You are welcome". I think that suggestions are never deleted.

Don't worry about it I am sure you will remember to use more than two words, I myself have had moments when a post has been so disturbing that I simply reply you rendered me speechless but now if that happens I just remember to add why I was speechless, Actually now I have become quite chatty, and I think some of my comments are much too long but once you get me going I just cannot stop, Enough said and glad you are back,

We're all human. We all make mistakes. I can't always post long replies, either.

@toniganzon Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm just saying don't stress. I wrote a lot of "thank you's" when I posted about my cat crossing the rainbow bridge last week.

@kaylachan not stressed about it but i don’t want to be the problem like what the admin said. The rules exist for a reason. And i don’t want to bring more work mylot. Those comments are deleted and imagine the headache we’re giving them when they go through those comments many times and delete them.

I'm someone who can really post long replies. But when I want to end a conversation or when I have nothing to say anymore and if thank you is the only thing that's needed to be said, couldn't help but just say thank you. I just think that leaving a mere like cannot be appreciated than actually saying "thank you."

Thanks. I've been away so long I'd forgotten rules regarding comments and think I may have also been guilty once or twice since returning.

Majority of the people here in mylot have forgotten that such rule exist. In fact someone in this discussion commented i should say thank you. I think she misunderstood and obviously she hasn’t read the guidelines.

I wonder if a like can be used in place of a thank you.

A like is better than a thank you according to the admin. And sometimes I do that too. But most of the time I always leave a thank you comment. I guess it has become a habit.

@lovebuglena I'm not someone who'd really do generic responses. I'm a talker. I talk a lot and I love typing. One reason why I don't use my phone when in mylot because I do type a lot. And I love using all my fingers in doing so. Was trained touch typing by my grandfather when I was in grade school using a type writer. So I type pretty quickly from my laptop.

@toniganzon Sometimes habits are not that easy to break. It's also not just about saying thank you and nothing else though. It's also about giving a very short generic reply. That's probably not good to do either.

And I can fully understand that. Sometimes we get too comfortable in mylot that we tend to forget the guidelines. A reminder of this once in a while would be nice. And I can just imagine the patience of the admin.

Sometimes there doesn't seem too much to say other than 'thank you'. It was good of Anna to alert you to the problem

She suggested the post to users she know. It was a good reminder. And I am really grateful to the admin for having this patience and to write a discussion about it.

When someone just likes your discussion and respond with a word like lovely or beautiful or good you can just reply with a thank you or an emoji.

Not worried at all. Being absent from mylot is really not the thing that I'm guilty about. I do its quite often here for more than a decade now.

is Saying "thank you" improper?sometimes i only say "thank you" as reply to a comment,i don't know if there is anything unsuitable with a "thank you" reply.welcome back here,I like mylot platform,we can pour out thoughts and heart here, meanwhile listen other's heart.enjoy your mylot time.

It is my pleasure and if you wish to read what the admin wrote here is the link: The admin can be really forgiving and patient but to keep this community healthy and alive for many many more years, we have to do our part as well. And sometimes we just get too comfortable with mylot that we tend to forget such simple rule exists!
