I was getting ready to sleep when my phone suddenly rang. It was past 10 in the evening and unless it's an emergency call from someone I know, I would never answer the call. When I checked my phone the call was from a stranger from my instagram account. That wasn't even my personal instagram account. That one I made for making reviews of things I bought online, so it was a public account and anybody could follow me there. It doesn't have my personal information nor does it have a photo of me. But this guy from India who was following me there sent a message and even called not only once but too many times. And I didn't expect that he'd call continuously after I have ignored the first call. Solution: block! Why would you call someone on instagram that you don't even know or haven't even chatted with?

And they're all fake!!! I don't get those creepy calls from my personal account as mine is in private. Always has been since the time instagram was introduced exclusively to apple users only.

Good decision that you blocked him for good. I suspect he might be one scammer trying to scam you.

There are a lot of scammers but they don't usually call. They just send a message. Usually men using fake photos and fake names. But this Indian guy was using his own photos. He must be one lonely guy or a pervert.

@toniganzon That is another possibility. To call you and show himself there must be other intentions besides scamming. But do you have pictures in that account that he saw you?

On instagram? My personal account is on private mode so I don't even get strange guys in there. And this instagram account of mine, I hardly open at all. I have several instagram accounts in my phone and the one I'm currently using is my crochet account. So when someone follows me on my other public instagram accounts, that I hardly check, I don't notice who's following me there.

I would have probably entertained a friendly chat, but a call from someone I haven't exchanged a single word with? I remember when there was this American guy following Danie's instagram account. He sent a message and said "you are beautiful." I reconsider with "thank you. My mommy takes care of me well. " I was responding as Danie of course!

@toniganzon That is the way to go with some people. Even here in myLot it happens that some users send PMs asking our phone number. I always refuse.

You can call someone on Instagram? How have I never known this before?

Seriously? You never knew about it? It has been available for years. From the time Facebook acquired instagram, whatever updates were done to fb messenger were also applied to instagram.

@moffittjc instagram was the reason why I became interested in photography so I'd never give up on it.

@toniganzon I’ve given up on social media, so I really have no idea what each app can or can’t do.

I have no idea why someone you and I do not know at all would want to chat with you or myself if we do not give out our personal information on these social media platforms.

Exactly! He's not a friend. We never exchanged a single word to each other, but why the sudden call?

@toniganzon That is a good question since you are not a celebrity.

Yep, it doesn't at all. And what's annoying was he called too many times. When I checked, my messages he sent several hi's and several calls as well. Strange Indian guy.

It's a wise decision that you blocked him. I'm sure it was a scam call.

Scammers on instagram usually don't call right away until they have established a relationship with the person by messaging them first. They would make an account pretending to be someone else. Using other people's photos. They would have pictures together with a kid pretending it's their own kid. Then they'd start chatting wanting to have a friendship. The moment the gullible ones would start to trust them, then they'd start scamming. This one, is using his own personal account, not a fake one as when I checked his profiles I see photos of him and I can tell when it's really his own photo or not easily from a person pretending.

No, I would never call someone on Instagram that I didn't even know or hadn't chatted with. That gives me a creep vibe! Blocking was a good solution, though!

Really strange people. I get messages from strangers but this was the first time that somebody called too many times and I have not had a single exchange of word with this person.
