Something dawns on me as we continue to deal with Covid. Granted, the cases now are MUCH milder. Not much worse than the common cold. BUT, this makes me think of something. When is the last time someone got sick and it WASN'T Covid? When is the last time you heard someone was out just because they had a common cold? I swear, it has been at least three years since I have heard of anyone just having a cold. Got a fever? Got the sniffles? Got congestion? It's never a cold anymore. It is always Covid. Every single time. I am not making this a point to dismiss Covid yet one more time. But think about it. Did Covid wipe out the common cold because no one seems to just get a cold anymore. When's the last time you are aware of someone who got sick and it WASN'T Covid, but just a cold?

Something has never been right with this whole thing from the word go. It's the weirdest thing. I am not even sure I see cold remedy commercials aired anymore—it's like the common cold just...disappeared.

When I went in to be tested Urgent Care thought I just had the beginnings of bronchitis. They did a full upper respiratory panel. I had covid. Last year I was much sicker, for weeks and weeks. Tested multiple times, again, including the full respiratory panel. It was just a cold. Rhinovirus. I benefitted a lot by taking extra allergy medicines. No, we have not wiped out flu, RSV, Cold, strep, we just do not count all the cases like we do covid.

@porwest I see what you are saying. On the other hand I hang around lots of people who deny they have covid. "Oh, it is just my allergies kicking in". I think there are pockets of believers and doubters and I know a few people who will never be led around by government, and that is a good thing. I do not doubt, however, that in some instances your theory is accurate.

I am not talking necessarily about what we count. I am more referring to what people say and what the result is. I have heard no one say they had a cold or any other thing. It's always Covid. That is not a scientific conclusion, but rather an anecdotal one. However, when you talk to hundreds of people in your daily work and no one has had a cold for three years—or the flu for that matter—it just makes one scratch their head a bit. I have never discounted Covid. But I do think there is a purpose to keeping it alive as a narrative. Surprisingly, for the first time in a long time... When it comes to Covid suddenly everyone trusts the government like they never did before. Which begs even more questions. Is this all it took for the government to now control us in other ways? If we so easily bought the lie with this, who knows what else they can now lie to us about and have us believe all of it and be shoved around like the sheep they want us to be? It may sound tin-hatty and crazy. But.... If you think about it...

@porwest never get me with that one since I never leave my apartment, and if I do, I am downstairs in the yard talking to my friends and I know I am not going to get it but right now I would like to find a way to get more mobile with my bum knee so I can go walking once September arrives

@porwest There were a few emperors with a heart in our history. In this case, the villain has mellowed with age! Now our leaders are mere politicians staying in power by hook or crook and by dividing us too. The incumbent gets vilified and those who promise the moon prove worse. No idea how the greats from the past would have survived in the cesspool we have created.

Jay was bleeding, his hand was torn up. He went into the ER, without Covid they didn't even bother. He finally left, still bleeding and went to a different hospital! They treated him. He didn't have Covid, so couldn't get a doctor!

The problem is perceptions, right? No one went to the doctor before if they thought they had a cold. But when Covid was around, everyone rushed to the doctor for anything and everything. So... We had a lot of "cases." Supposedly. But can we confirm they WERE Covid cases? Or do we just take the government's word that that's what they were? Part of my point is that we need to be weary of what the underlying agenda(s) may be for governments to control their people and make the impression they have a valid, greater cause argument to do it. People have always held a bit of "suspicion" about government. That changed a bit when Covid hit, and then suddenly people trusted and hung on to every instruction and word the government said. Suddenly the government was the most trustworthy of all and people did not question a thing. As for not going to the doctor for a common cold now, the problem is that the new strains of Covid are just like the common cold, and so how does one know if they have Covid or a cold unless they test? Beyond that, if the government wants to continue to control its people through Covid, how can we be sure those tests won't confirm more cases of Covid than actually exist? In other words, how trustworthy are the tests? If someone wants you to believe in something, a test might be a good and easy way to help to confirm that belief... If everything now brings back a positive for Covid.

The masks were a load of crap. Even the CDC finally had to come out and say they didn't do a damn thing. The whole thing from day one was innuendo, propaganda, insinuation and lie after lie after lie after lie... And the sad part is people still believe in some of this garbage. The world's gone nuts and I think brains have all turned to mush. lol It is what it is, I suppose. All we can hope for is that there is at least enough common sense and logical thinking left that the world can still be saved from what has otherwise become moronic.

You have a point there. Looks like Cold is gone. Before Covid, government here asked people to get vaccinated to prevent Flu. Now they just focus on promoting people to get vaccinated to prevent Covid.

This is true. But we have to keep in mind that the flu vaccines were time tested and proven to be effective. The Covid vaccines were experimental, untested and unproven mRna vaccines that, according to everything I can find, did not work. More people who got vaccinated for Covid got Covid than anyone vaccinated for flu ever got flu.

@porwest Yes, you are right. The Covid vaccines were experimental, untested. The The authorities here claimed that The Covid vaccines cannot help to prevent getting infected, it just helps to prevent the illness from getting serious.

How many of those tests, I wonder, are giving a positive for a cold, and has anyone checked to see if the tests push a positive for a cold? Funny no one has ever questioned that. What if the purpose of the tests was to push the narrative? And don't forget, Biden pushed the vaccine and then handed out free tests. How many of those may have been designed to actually also push vaccinations? Too many people fail to ask important questions and just do too much trusting I think.
