I Don't Want To Help Others, It makes Me Feel Used!

September 5, 2022 2:50pm CST
I was reading some posts on another platform and this person stated that they don't like helping others because it makes them feel used. How do you feel about helping other people who are in need? Do you feel some type of way? Do you feel used? Or are you glad to help?

Well I would not allow myself to be used. So I would help if I could and if the need was genuine. I dont let users use me.

I think I like it most when they can use something that I'm making/doing anyway (and I might be encouraged to do that thing more & -especially for them.)

I don't feel used to help someone voluntarily.

I define help very differently than most people do. I always ask myself, am I helping or am I enabling. I use the food pantry analogy. If the same person comes in week after week for a free loaf of bread for years and years, am I helping them? If I WERE helping them they would not be coming for the free bread. They'd be standing next to me handing it out.

I do enjoy helping others when I am able to. It's probably not as much help as they need, I just share what I am able to share. I don't feel used.

If I can help others, i'll do it. If not, then I wont. So I Never feel used. Most of the time, helping others can give inner happiness to me.
