Yesterday I got this e-mail : Dear frau_malu: Thank you for shopping with us. We thought you'd like to know that we shipped your item. And that this completes your order. Your order is on , and can no longer be changed. Details Order #3447541 Total including shipping : 978.00$ Order Details If you need to return an item from this shipment or manage other orders, please visite : Click Here. Thank You ===== Goodness! I'll be ruined! Were will I take 978.00$ (857 GBP)* from when the postman comes and brings me whatever costs this amount of money? What I find odd in this post is that only 'your item' is mentioned and not what the item is supposed to be. I do order stuff on the internet occasionally, and up to now I've always got a detailed bill with the name and address of the sender of the item in question, my name and address, and, above all, the name and price of the item. The problem is that I don't have so much money lying around at home which I could hand over to the postman. Tbh, I don't even have so much money in my current account. I would have to cancel my savings account and lose interest. I would be stupider than the police permit (as the Germans say) to do this. So, if you'll notice me flooding the site with post after post, you'll know what is behind it: namely, trying to earn some pennies (cents) to pay for this mysterious item! Stay Posted! ----- * Another oddity is that I'm told to pay in dollars. I live in a country which belongs to the Euro zone. No postman would accept dollars here.

That is certainly a scam . . . but I am sure you know that . But you'd have to wonder if some people actually fall for these scams . These scammers will keep on trying no matter what.

@maluse The worrying thing is that there are enough people who will fall for it, otherwise the scammers would not waste their time producing such bilge.

@MALUSE Bilge, I believe, is an even more derogatory term suggesting an element of filth as well as rubbish. A lovely word, not often used.

That seems like a new kind of spam. Have not come across something like this.

I've seen this scam before. I'm sure people are duped into handing over the money. It's deplorable.

Don't worry, the item has already been paid. They will only ask for extra fees such as customs fees if you're lucky. If you're unlucky your computer will be infected with a virus. I'm sorry these scammers hurt people who are only guilty of being either gullible or ignorant. I'm less sorry these scammers hurt people who are greedy to the bone and think it's okay to accept a mysterious shipment they're receiving by mistake. I wished info included weight so it would be easier to speculate about the nature of the item.
