Not spending thousands on a dress for a wedding

My cousin's wedding is November 5th and I have to get a dress. Started looking yesterday. Tried on a lot of dresses. They all looked beautiful but I wasn't completely sold on them when I tried them on. One of the dresses that I tried on I felt like I was being chocked where the neck area was. That dress had a price tag of close to $4,000. Good thing that dress wasn't a perfect fit or I'd be very disappointed as I would never spend that much on a dress for a wedding, even if I wasn't the one paying for it. Heck, even my wedding dress was nowhere near that much. I did end up buying a dress for under $100. It seemed to look good on me and was comfortable, nothing bothering me. It's not really a dress for a wedding though so I still have to keep on looking. Have about a month left to find one.

I would never buy a dress for $4,000. Heck, I would never buy a dress anymore. You have some time left to look. Good luck.

I think I will need luck, especially when I think back to my previous times where I had to buy a dress for a wedding. Ah, if only I could still fit into the dresses I already have. That would be so much better.

@LindaOHio did not go there. I think they only sell bridesmaids dresses not dresses to attend a wedding. I can try a boutique but may be pricey there.

@lovebuglena Have you tried a bridal shop? Or are the dresses too expensive?

Egads. That kind of money for basically a one-time deal. No way, no how. I hope you find something nice on the cheaps.

Why one-time deal? There may be other weddings to attend in the future...

@porwest what do you mean by a different dress? Do you mean type of dress?

Wow, I don't think I've even touched a dress that cost $4000 . For that price it better come with jewelry, shoes, matching purse, make up and hairstyling . Are you "in" the wedding?

@lovebuglena Ah. Well I hope you find a nice guest dress that you are happy with - and that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg!!

I would never pay so much money for a dress that you can only wear once. You cannot wear the same dress for another wedding.

@lovebuglena - If it's not the same group of people it is different. But all weddings where we invited was the same group of people.

Why can't you wear the same dress to another wedding? Especially if you will not be with the same group of people? I definitely do not mind wearing the same dress to more than one wedding. I've done that before.

wow. Yeah I don't like choking dresses either. I would wear a dress that is comfortable, if it's not a traditional dress for a wedding.

I don't see the point in spending a lot of money on a dress just to attend someone's wedding. And it has to be comfortable for sure. If something is bothering me I won't buy it no matter the price or how nice it is.

Here in our place, some people don't buy dress for wedding. They just rent it for a cheaper price.

I don't want to wear a dress that someone else already wore. But we do have that option here.

@lovebuglena I used to wear my elder shirt when I was studying in high school. I don't have enough school dress to wear. He's mad at me for we belong to one school.
