I survived a large party tonight with no music involved.

One of the guys on my softball team had a party tonight. He just got married (second wife) and was in a celebratory mood. I generally don't feel that comfortable at parties where I don't know a lot of the people and no music playing (my escape) is involved. But there were three guys there I know pretty well, plus another that I've had some good conversations with over this past season. I ate catered Mexican food (it was quite good), drank wine (mostly Cab) and enjoyed talking with my teammates and their wives. One wife is writing a book, and we discussed that process. My recently married friend requested no gifts, but I brought him a pair of the sound hole coasters I make for his house. Do you enjoy large (50 or so people) parties? Are you glad when you make it home in one piece?

Planning your escape more like it. I never been to a party with no music. Even if its not my music, there has always been music. Even in Redneck Marine land, they played lots of country and one Bob Marley song. haha I can never go to big parties like that again. I get in trouble and you best believe I am happy I am in one piece when get home. I am glad you seemed to enjoy yourself. Big parties are hard, seems hard to be yourself. A lot of superficial stuff you have to get past. People always say how good they are. I just a dirt bag, thats actually my best line and usually makes people laugh. Then I go maybe I can do this.

I am glad I wore my LL Bean shirt that looks like a Brooks Brothers shirt. This was a well-to-do crowd. But everyone was really nice.

@TheHorse Thats cool and going to have to remember that. People always try to drag me to things. Maybe I can at least look all sophisticated.

@crossbones27 I try to operate under the assumption that most people are good. But I DO notice that some are more interested than others in what I have to say.

I haven´t gone to such parties in ages. Nowadays, youngsters don´t even get married so the biggest parties I go to are family parties of 15 or 20 at the most. And that was before the covid.

@TheHorse The parties I used to go were from my close friends. The last one, when Felipe and his fiancee came to Chile was in the garage (because of the covid) with a barbecue and plenty of music from Felipe, Negor and Camila(Dixie´s musician daughter). We all sang some of the songs.

@marguicha That sounds like fun! I much prefer small gatherings, and gatherings with music. But I did have fun last night.

@TheHorse Alone? It really doesn't matter to me but my boss at my TMZ side hustle really wants me to find out if you took someone with you.

@TheHorse She prefers to get the information for free but I will submit a bill for $1 million----That sounds like a good starting amount---and we'll see what happens.

@xander6464 It's going to cost him (or her, or they) a lot to find out.

I have never really been a party kind of person. When Pretty was little, I threw lots of parties for her and her friends to enjoy but never bothered to go to parties for adults only... I just wasn't interested. I'm glad you made it home safely, pony.

@TheHorse I went to two weddings when friends got married and one birthday party... The whole time the parties were happening, all I could think about was going home.

I don't make a lot of acquaintances, at least not the ones in visiting distances, so it's quite uncomfortable for me to go to parties. Though there have been a few enjoyable ones where my invisibility was respected LOL. I am happy you had a good time :)

Glad you enjoyed the party. I used to enjoy parties big and small in my younger days, and we partied on holidays in Latvia, either with friends and family or sometimes even just the two of us. Now I can party with my cats. If you did not live all the way across the US I would invite you and Kitty for a New Year's Eve cat bash

@RasmaSandra She is demanding that the others get wet food as well. I think there's some kind of cat conspiracy going on here.

If I know nobody, and am not expected to speak with anybody (as at a professional baseball game) then I'm OK.

You are more socially skilled than I am. I get intimidated with too many people round me. Unless I am there for a reason--usually to play music for the occasion.
