Banks are closed in japan / How about in your country?

from 31st of december banks are closed and i cant use my bank . i need to deposit to send my mom but all bank closed and still i am not sure if they will be open tomorrow.
this is because of new years traditions and other things!
how about in your country?
do they close banks for 3 4 days during the new year s days?

Banks here are closed on public holidays and weekends too, so it was closed from 31 December, and will be opened on 3 January.
Nowadays I usually use internet banking to transfer money. If I am not mistaken, some banks here don't handle the deposit or withdrawal matters, we are asked to either use internet banking or the ATM machine to do the transfer too.

@kaka135 no! that s the problem! check the photo i added . they close the enterance so we cant go in and use atm ..

it is very bad .. i think at least one bank or one agency must be open for an emergency.

America here. Banks are always closed on national holidays. I think this year, they closed early on December 31 (half day) and closed full day on January 1st and 2nd (Monday is an observed holiday due to NY being on a Sunday). It's a good thing I didn't have any banking needs during this time.
