It's January 2 already. Where has the time gone? I just had one of those moments when a story idea came to me that I just had to write down, or it wouldn't have let me get on with my other work. The result is a ~400-word short-short that may or may not amount to anything. I'll let it marinate for a while and go back to it in a few days. Hope you had, are having, or will have a good day.

Way to be. I love moments like that. Can you flesh your story out a little?

I think the story has real potential to be fleshed out and expanded upon.

Sounds like you've already had a productive new year then, the inspiration is already flowing.

I was posting some promotions on Twitter when this idea came to me out of nowhere. I realized once I wrote the first line down that an old Carly Simon song inspired it. I am not even listening to music right now.

@DWDavis wow, that's cool! Sometimes old songs pop inside my head as if from nowhere.

Thanks, got signed in on my main puter which has been giving me grief, so that's a win. Congrats on your story idea. Strike while the iron is hot.

I'm glad your main computer is working okay today. Mine has been doing better since the last round of updates. It's my laptop that I use for remote work I'm worried about. I think the screen and the main unit section are about to stop talking.

It was a line from a song that got the idea started.

Yeah, gotta write those thoughts down while they’re there. I’ve found the caboose falls off my train of thought way too much. Have a great day yourself!!

I know what you mean. My train of thought derails much too easily these days. It doesn't help when Son1 or the missus keep coming into the loft and interrupting me, either.

I find it helpful, especially for a short story written in a burst like this one, to leave it aside while working on other things. It may amount to something or may become the kernel of a bigger story.

It's amazing how much difference a little marinating can make to a story.

I think it is good you got a moment of inspiration. As a Sunday school teacher, when I find something I like and think will make a good lesson I write it down. I have papers by both the desk top and laptop computer with bits and pieces of lessons. Have a super day.
