How old is your house?

My house is 12 years old now. Looks like we need renovation. The wall need to be painted. There's also a hole up the roof, so whenever rain comes down, the water leaks. But I have to hold over this plan because the renovation needs a big cost. What about yours? Does your house need renovation too?

Pretty and I have been renting this house for five years now. (The house was originally built in the 1940s.) The house was renovated roughly ten years ago and got new carpet just before we moved in.

That is lovely. I bet you feel content with the house. Whenever the house need to be renovation, are you the one who is responsible or the owner of the house?

@ifa225 This house feels small to us. We rented a house twice as big as this one for over 22 years before moving to this house. We looked for one the same size as our last house but this was the only house we could find for rent. The owner of the house has to pay for any problems this house has as well as renovations when needed.

@DaddyEvil why did you move? The same system with a rent house in my place, but some owner will fine the one who rent if there is a big damage like graffiti in the wall I want to sell my house and buy a new one, but my husband disagree with me

I guess the material is great so it can stand for 23 years. I don't know why the buildings in Indonesia is easy to broke, either the roof or the wall

@ifa225 The oldest houses in our small city are 400 years old and still perfect. 23 years is very young for a house here.

The house where my parents and I lived was built in 2001. Our house was built with bricks, cement mortar and steel bars. Now it is very good. The roof has been waterproofed twice, and the room is still the original decoration.

My house was build in 1990 so its 33 years now, and still strong and if we want to make renovations maybe just change the painting colours

@MrDenata true, the materials which being used these day have a low quality. 5 years then your house is easy to collapse

Our house was built in the early 1950s. It has "good bones" and has held up well, but it could use some updating and some fixes here and there (we bought it about 10 years ago).

Now the age is around 70 years old. It sure has a good bone that is why it could stand still untill now. You are lucky to buy it

@ifa225 Well, at the time, there were not many houses available, and this one was one of the few that was in our price range. It is a bit small, but at least we own it. The housing market is crazy now - the prices are way too high - we do not dare move.

The only house that I´ve ever had was around 10 years old when I sold it. I was in construction; as a matter of fact, I never saw it finished, Until the day I sold it, it always needed some work on it. It was a brick house with a minimal architectural style It was located on a hill and took all those years of construction because every piece of material had to be carried by hand. There was no way for heavy cars to deliver construction materials. It was designed to never need renovation but luckily I found a buyer for it

Every materials can only be careied with hand? That was tough. I can imagine it if it was located in up hill, but I guess the view is amazing and the air is fresh right?

@ifa225 It was a nice location. There were high winds during this season that reached 75 or more km an hour. There was a majestic view of a famous volcano-Popocatepetl and a starry night view of the constellations and the polar star. I used to stay late at night watching the stars and constellations, I had the chance to observe the Lyrids meteor shower and a UFO too
