Are There Still Toy Crazes?

United States
January 14, 2023 2:49pm CST
I was just lying here and mylotting, reading posts about kids, having fun. I started thinking back way before computers, when a toy was a craze. I thought about the hula hoop. I felt like every kid in the world had one. That's all you could see everywhere. I remember on the news a man got arrested on the beach, because he was surrounded by kids with hula hoops. He just start grabbing and breaking them. Kids use to have so much fun, I suppose they still do, but hula hoops was a craze. What was your favorite toy.

I was a child in post-war (the Second World War) Germany. There were no toy crazes because there were no toys.

I liked playing a boxing game that was with characters that looked like robots but small size inside of a boxing ring.

Nowadays, kids are into mobile games. They don't know how to play toys. We bought toys for my nephews to ensure they feel how it was back then.

I grew up on a farm out in the middle of nowhere. I rode a bike, a horse or was somewhere reading a book I'd borrowed from one of the neighbors.

We always lived in apartments so I never had a hula hoop since I would have broken al of mom's vases on the shelves, I became more creative I even watched TV with a coloring book or a drawing pad in my lap working on creating pictures,

I think dolls were my favorite toys. Do children even play with dolls and hula hoops now. I don't see it. I think they're too busy with computer games.

I was better with the baton than the hula hoop.
Schylling's Twirling Baton for Kids is a pretty metal baton with plastic ends on both sides that's perfect for making up funky dance routines!

I think many kids today have replaced physical toys with video games. I remember the Nintendo craze. I even bought one to play Mario Bros, tennis and golf. Now with Play Station and other video devices they have become way more sophisticated..

@popciclecold Yes, those games are addictive to some. Today's kids seem totally absorbed in their phones whether playing games or texting their friends. They never seem to look up! Silly puddy and slinky were loads of fun!
