I’m No Actress

Our little theater sends me emails all year to ask if I would be interested in auditioning for parts in community plays, or to help with lighting, stage sets, etc… I can’t sing, dance, or act, and would rather see a play than work on one. Tonight, hubs and I are going out to dinner and seeing, yet again, “Dial M for Murder.” We’ve seen it performed many times before in other venues. It’s a favorite and should be fun. It’s a first since the pandemic. We will wear our masks, because when we stopped at the box office last month, the director was out with Covid .

Covid is still kicking us, dammmit. I too wear my mask when I go shopping etc. I hope the play will be well performed and if not then very funny.

I'm glad to hear you still wear a mask in public. Not many do here Thank you! I'm sure we will enjoy it very much. They use "real" actors for the major roles.

It's the same here, people have become too relaxed about the dangers of Covid ..... I've heard the argument that goes like this 'I got my vaccination so I'm protected' which I've noticed doesn't actually protect you but it may help reduce the affects of covid if you catch it.

@Tampa_girl7 Thanks, but I probably won't have much to say about it unless something strongly unusual happens there. Tomorrow we are having hurricane windows and doors installed. That should be interesting and noisy!

I love “Dial M for Murder”, I know you will enjoy your evening. It is safer to wear a mask, I know that we still have many people sick with Covid here.

@DianneN - I see many people coughing and sneezing. May be it's the pollen, I do not care , I do not want to be close to them without wearing a mask I fear that on stage you would be asked to remove your mask

TWINS again! Thank you. It's a nice way to spend Friday Datenight, too. We decided to eat in an outdoor restaurant. There are too many people who don't wear masks, have the flu, or whatever for me to feel comfortable around them. I suppose if I was acting on stage, they wouldn't allow me to wear a mask

@LadyDuck I always used to hear people coughing and sneezing in the theaters, etc. before the pandemic. It nauseated me then, and now, triple ewwwwww! Another good reason not to be an actress IF they ever hired me

Good idea to wear those masks. I always sort of wanted to act, so at age 40, I finally tried it and loved it. I did three or four shows, one a year and always got large parts. It does take a lot of time though, rehearsals, memorizing, sometime nine or more performances. Nowadays, I like to do extras acting for movies/tv shows filmed mostly in Portland. It's usually one day, no lines, and I get to stay over at my daughter's house.

I remember your love of acting. I loved modeling and commentating, but acting is just something I can't do. I've even given speeches to large groups. Go figure???

@DianneN I wear a mask. So does my son. We are basically trying to keep welll, and take care not to give each other anything at this point. We've come way too far in this journey to go down without a fight. Good for you, wearing a mask and being proactive.

I hope you enjoy watching it at this venue. I’m not sure I’d want to watch it performed more then once I think I would just critique it the whole time in my head.

I hope you enjoy the play. I have the video of the movie with Grace Kelly. I enjoyed dancing and singing in the chorus of two musicals my high school put on, In my junior year it was Anything Goes and in my senior year it was Pajama Game,
