He did what he said he would

When I was lead to this new job it had started out as part time. Starting at the bottom like all jobs, within a couple weeks I was promoted to the part time customer service, which means I am over the cashier's and baggers, counting money and doing the required paperwork. So.... I was still working at the other job also but I demoted myself to part time there. When I mentioned where I got another job, they took me off the schedule, not fired and I hadn't quit. Seems that the second in command had worked at my new job and left not in good terms with them. So..... When my new manager found out what they had done, taken me off the schedule, he said " I'll give you full time, but it'll be a split, part time office and part time cashier, you'll get a raise also, do you want it?" Of course my reply was "yes." Plus I had told the assistant manager that if he needed me to work as cashier when someone was out sick or quit I was available. I had covered shifts and I was getting 40 hours anyways. The manager kept his word. This week I'm scheduled for 40 hours, and I got my raise. I think this is good because the cashier's know I am one of them but I can also be boss. That I understand how they feel dealing with customers. Management will ask me to use their void cards and to deal with situations when they need a restroom break while I'm cashiering. When it's just two or three of us on cash registers, some of them panic knowing it can be a rush hour, or long lines, I look at them and say " we got this!" I will let them know I see their potential to get the job done with a smile on our faces. I don't know my purpose in life, only God does, but this feels right. I'm learning more and more each day. I see old friends and I meet new people everyday at this work place. Life is good. Have a wonderful day y'all!
