Are coffee and other sweets silent killers?

My friend loved to eat sweet foods, loved coffee, cakes, and soft drinks and only stopped when she was diagnosed with diabetes. She was doing this in her workplace and at her home. One time she visited home and noticed the sachets of coffee she brought with her. I told her to drink in moderation but she said she consumes 4 mugs a day. Then one day, she scratched a wound on her leg and that wound never healed until the day she died. One morning she cried because she cannot stand up, she lost her energy. Her left leg cannot walk anyone. She was brought to the doctor and the doctor said her leg needs to be amputated. She died 8 days after in the hospital. She stopped drinking all sweet liquids but it was too late, so while it is not late, better refrain from drinking too sugary drinks. Heath is wealth. Thanks for reading, sharing is caring.

That's a tragic story, I feel sorry for your friend. May she rest in peace. This is a good reminder for everyone, Sugar is the sweet poison. Thank you for this reminder. Take care and God bless.

Sweets and rice cause diabetes, not coffee, but sodas are very bad for our health.

@Kandae11 Research online and you will see that rice cause diabetes, all doctors know and the strongest association being observed in South Asia. Search online if you do not believe me and my doctors.

Millions of people in many countries eat rice everyday and they are not diabetic. Too much table sugar along with other hidden sugars and saturated fat contributes.

@LadyDuck, the coffee that my cousin and others drink is the one called 3 in 1 meaning mixed with sugar, creamier and milk which is so sugary.

Sugar is bad for diabetes. That means sodas, breads, rice, starches, and table sugar. We should always eat in moderation

water is the best drink. It has no side effects. sweet foods, carbs, lack of exercise, over eating, over weight will result into diabetes.

And stress and genetics are other reasons for diabetes. We must try to release our stress by doing the things which we like.

I believe you gave her sound advice when you said to consume everything in moderation. Yet if someone chooses not to take your advice, you obviously cannot stop her. In that situation, she is to responsible for her decline. Really, the perpetrators, in this case, aren't the sweets or the coffee; it's the consumer. If only she had listened to your advice, she may still be able to lead a regular life today.

@cacay1 Actually, she could still enjoy such things in moderation if only she had listened to your advise. But, I believe that she opted to go after her desires, which led to her demise.

@rsa101, but it is not only coffee that she likes o ake, but also chocolates, coke, fruit salads with sweetener, and more. She was overweight before and after earning her sickness she was advised to go on diet. But it seems too late. It is better not to abuse our health.

@rsa101 it might be, and there are people who do not like to listen to advice. They go on their own way. They are stubborn and stupid.

There are so many people around the globe with diabetes. People who are in control of it managed to live longer and because they are disciplined in what they eat, they have no complications. If we are diagnosed with diabetes, that moment alone we have to realize to start a healthy lifestyle. Let go of the days we eat what we want because life is short.

I know a lot about this terrible craving for sweetness. I do not have it and rarely have anything with added sweetness, My husband craved a lot of sweet things and it was undiagnosed diabetes that took him from me. Since then I don't even keep a bag of sugar in my house,

@cacay1 It was so unexpected took him in with my stepdaughter on a Wednesday and they kept him to do procedures and on Thursday he was gone. Back in 2017 when it all happened good that no matter what I still had common sense through my sorrow or I swear I would have gone to the hospital and screamed at the doctor that it was his fault but my stepdaughter told me there really was no hope, it was all too far gone,

Uncontrolled diabetes interfere with many important organs of the body - like heart, kidney, eyes , liver etc. Could result in blindness and amputation. However it could be controlled with proper diet and medication. Many people live long, productive lives with diabetes. Some even manage to reverse it and go off medication.

@Kandae11, my cousin didn't make it for many years. She learned she has diabetes and took medication. She survive for 15 years. It's the wound on her lower leg that doesn't cure that led to her demise.

How old was the lady when she passed away? I heard a case in which a teenager refused to listen to anyone, and only drank softdrink. she got diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 14 and had to cut back her daily sugar consumption.

Everything in moderation. Yes sweeteners can be bad for you. Carbohydrates from processed flour can be bad for you. . . but your brain needs carbohydrates for energy, so does your body, so be selective in how you fuel it. Salt can also kill you, as can fat. Yes, I do care.

@Felice22, yes, true, if too much intake, the body cannot take it, so better in moderation. Coffee also gives health benefits depending on the drinker on how many mugs to consume daily.

Thats a tragic story but also now I know what not to do. Refrain from having a lot of sweet foods.
