This is a wild grapevine of native North Carolina grapes. We don't know for certain if they are muscadine or scuppernong as the birds and other critters eat them up before they mature.
Perhaps a myLotter who knows their grape leaves can tell me.
We also have wild grape vines growing in our woods. Some years the birds and beasties don't get all those grapes. I haven't tried them. Maybe someday.
Have you ever tried wild grapes?

I don't know the different types of native grapes. We had some growing on our farm when I was a kid. Mom always sent us out to gather them as soon as they started getting ripe. We had to fight the birds for them. Mom made them into jelly.
We also had tame grape vines that dad planted. Those we ate right off the vines.

@DWDavis The wild grapes of my childhood were sour. Maybe they're a different kind. I don't know.

Yes we used to eat so many as children that we made ourselves sick.

They are usually good. Just watch for them to ripen

No, but I'm sure we have them here in Oregon along with over 300 vineyards.
