What a nice way to be greeted

We are home from Ireland where we spent a month, mostly in Co. Mayo in the west. At Leenaun, I saw the Irish word ‘failte’ carved into the lawn at a bed and breakfast place. ‘Failte’ means ‘welcome’ and you see the word a lot on various signs. We had a good trip but it will never be anything but a long way. Vince is napping but, although I laid on the bed, I couldn’t go to sleep so now I’m catching with some of the myLot news. Hopefully I’ll feel weary soon and be able to sleep. Or at least I’ll sleep tonight. Our good friends at our lifestyle village left a Welcome Sign on our doorstep and some fruitcake. We’ll catch up with them at the movies tonight.

What a lovely gesture to give you some fruitcake and a Welcome sign. Now you need a few days to relax and adjust to your time zone

@LadyDuck Some say the jetlag is worse coming back to Australia rather than going away from.

I know you enjoyed every single day there Judy. It will take you both awhile to get caught up on your rest. Such a long trip. Glad you were able to enjoy.

Thanks. It is certainly a long time to sit in a plane. We have two more days home then have an endurance ride to take photos at so I'd better some good quickly. We were supposed to go to a house-sit but they've had to cancel which is a good thing really.

Yes Failte means welcome. And everyone is welcomed in Ireland. Ireland of the Welcomes. Glad you are home now.

@JudyEv Very hospitable, though some are here too in America, but not nearly the same as Ireland. I am so glad and I hope Vince is fine now from his chest there.

That whole area has a lot of Irish speakers but I shouldn't think too many tourists would know much Irish.

@JudyEv Very true. I know a couple of words of Welsh, but not enough to get by on, Gaelic is a bit more than I could handle!

I just yesterday had the last of the 5 pound fruitcake I'd gotten for Christmas, so if you don't want what was left on your doorstep, you can send it over here...

I had a hard time with a five-hour difference between Honolulu and Louisville when I went home on leave. I can’t even imagine losing most of an entire DAY in sleep. Hope you get re-adjusted quickly.

It's nice to know a few words in other languages. I'll try to remember 'karibu'. On the plane coming home, the stewardesses spoke 16 languages between them.
