Best In Show.

I don't even own a dog but one of my favorite televised events to watch - apart from the Olympics and World Games - is the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show which gets underway this weekend. Twenty-five hundred dogs from 210 different breeds will compete for the Best In Show trophy. If you've watched it before, do you think your dog could match up against those on show? I wonder if there are any cat shows. Which is your favorite annual or other event you look forward to watching? Pixabay image Here is the link.
To the casual viewer, competing at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show might look as simple as getting a dog, grooming it and leading it around a ring. But there’s a lot more to getting to and exhibiting in the United States’ most prestigious canine event

Even I enjoy watching some of the videos with all dog tricks. Our dog Topaz used to drag his mat close to our sofa and push and bring his bowl when we sat for movie night. He would enjoy it with us and looked forward to having popcorn in his bowl He was smart and adhered to the rules in the house. He was not allowed in the kitchen or on any furniture.

I love his name Topaz, any special reason for the name ? Do you have a picture of him?

@Kandae11 He was this light brown Golden retriever. My husband named him after his birth stone. He stayed with us for close to 18 long years.

I don't watch shows now, but rather K-dramas or variety shows like Jinny's Kitchen where famous actors and a BTS member are operating a restaurant in Mexico. It was fun watching the customers realize that their waiter has starred in the award-winning "Parasite" film. And that the other workers there are all celebrities

I never had a dog, I have a cat and I do not believe there is something similar for cats. I never watch TV, there are nothing that I really do not want to miss on TV.

I don’t own any animals. I can’t think of an annual show at the moment..After I submit I probably will think of something.

@Kandae11 That could be interesting to see the trainers run all the dogs through their tricks.

It is always interesting to see who the judges pick for the winning dog. I also enjoy watching Equestrian seeing the riders go through the obstacle course with their horses.

@Kandae11 I wonder if those judges have a bias for a certain breed of dog? I'm sure they are looking for certain standards but some subjectivity has to come into play. Don't you think?

I miss my cocker spaniel. I have two cats now. Nothing lately to watch that I enjoy on an annual basis. A challenge to find anything decent on a daily basis. I used to enjoy the Olympics each year but not so much any more.

None of ours would be able to complete and win. Our dogs would want to bite the other dogs and my dog would pee herself in fear of the people. The cat would jump on people and bite them.
