I Think I Made a Friend...

One of the newest tenants in our little apartment complex is a couple and their adorable little girl. They walk past our unit pretty often on their way to the park, and I've been meaning to ask them if they would like the old turtle sandbox we had from when our kids were that age. I finally asked them the other day when they were coming back from the park, and after a bit of discussion the sandbox went off to its new home. The little one has always been quiet and reserved with me, but yesterday when we all happened to be checking the mail at the same time she gave me a huge smile, waved, and yelled " thank you!" Sounds like she's loving it already.

Oh, I had an ulterior motive. I didn't want to wrestle it into my car to take it to one of the local thrift shops. Really, though, it's nice to know it's found a home where it'll be appreciated.

I'm thrilled that she's going to be able to enjoy it so much. Her mom told me they'd actually been thinking about getting one because she's taken to digging next to the patio, so it worked out really well for everyone.
