Out of Ideas

I have spent all day surfing the net for ideas for a discussion. I can't come up with anything. Usually, I am full of ideas but not lately. It has never been this bad since the start of my stint on myLot and not knowing that I should write about interesting things instead of lofty ideas. Do you ever run out of things to talk about? What do you do about it to jump-start the flow of ideas? What if I never have a good idea again?

Well, I could commend you on what you are NOT starting a discussion on, but in case someone has been posting about those things too, I probably shouldn't do that in case I hurt their feelings. I suspect you'll have ideas pouring out of you within no time.

@akalinus It's as real of a subject as many of the things posted about here.

@AmbiePam Thank you for saying that. It makes me feel better about it.

I know it is not a real subject but I am desperate because I can't think of anything. I hope you are right.

I've hit a bit of a wall too. I often go searching through old photos when I get stuck. Sometimes that helps.

Also, there are powerful emotions triggered by photos. And lots of stories but maybe some should not be told?

I do that too. There are stories associated with many photos.

@akalinus True. Some stories are best kept to ourselves.

That 'out of ideas' is now an idea.. You're smart to do this. . Sometimes, it's difficult, yes. But the discussions still pour through.

@TheHorse I think I figured it out. I'm not supposed to have caffeine anyone. I guess that did in my brain.

@TheHorse You're on a roll and does me saying you're on a roll cause you to think of toilet paper?

I do not really run out of things to talk about, but often I am not in the mood to write.

@akalinus I often get ideas from what I read online or the books I have in our home, but I am still not in the mood of writing.

@LadyDuck Yes, me too. I often just don't want to and there is no one to force me to do it. So, I don't. That is one of my worst faults.

It is unusual for me to not think of something to write. This has gone on for days.

It sounds like a bad case of writer's block. When that happens I write about the first thing that pops into my head even if it doesn't sound worth it. You never know where it will lead.

Thanks, I know you write books, right? Do you get writer's block very often? It has been crazy around here the last few days. All that stress just shuts my mind down.

@just4him I have the first few chapters of five or six books I am writing. I have come to the conclusion that I am not a book writer. I get bored rehashing the same stuff over and over.

@akalinus Yes, I get writer's block often. When I do, I start another book. It's why I have over 50 titles in various stages of writing.

You will have good ideas again. I have a whole list of things I want to write about. Is there anything in the news that catches your eye? What's happening in your life? What are you eating? What are you doing? Have a great day.

What is that? I thought I had an idea but found out that it happened in 2019. I thought it just happened. It would have started a lively discussion.

Many times it happens with me and when I don't have an idea I read and respond on others' posts.

I never do. If I can't think of something, I will go find something online. I mean there are days when I can't be on myLot though. Well, finally you found something to talk about Jo Ann.

Well, yes. It is something. It is not encouraging or beautiful but it is not nothing either. I have been looking all day online trying to think of something.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, it does. Maybe my brain needs a vacation or something. I think it needs to go to Hawaii.

You know I don't like to start discussions unless something is really "speaking" to me at the time... Would you be interested in not-so-lofty ideas? What did you eat for breakfast, lunch and what will you make for dinner tonight? Do you have any houseplants? Do any of them bloom and are any of them blooming now? Do you own a smartphone? Do you use your smartphone to earn money? If so, what apps do you use to earn money? Have you ever used Mistplay on your smartphone? There are some off the top of my head... Will any of those work for you to write a discussion from?

Hm, what is Mistplay? I never heard of it. I do some Swagbucks stuff on mobile but they don't work well. I had a Dr. Pepper and a chocolate snack for lunch. Those food discussions do pretty well.

I go out and take a photo of something that might be of interest or I just go out on the property and see if the world looks different from there.

I do. But then I remind myself that ANYTHING can be turned into a post. A bad driver. Cutting the finger nails on my left hand this morning. Kitty hounding me. I chose to write about my latest senior moment this morning.

I don’t write a discussion every day, not even every week. I read other discussions and reply to all notifications. That’s good enough for me.

@akalinus Thank you for saying that.

I usually look around, write a few words about the object or memory that is being recalled, and jot it down into a solid, interesting paragraph. That's one way of fishing for ideas, hopefully it helps.
