Finally recovered from Covid

I tested positive for Covid-19 last May 14, Sunday. It was Mother's Day and I'd been feeling awful 2 days before that. I had fever Friday night until Saturday afternoon. And more than a week of cough. My husband started having the symptoms Sunday night. It was so thoughtful of him to cook some soup that day because we couldn't go out to celebrate. But then he eventually caught the virus too and had to miss work for like a week. I had to get up on the third day of being sick and cook some real food. We thrived on deliveries for a while but sadly everything that we ordered from restaurants and fast food were way too SALTY for me. I think Covid made me taste every food like it's salty. Our two young daughters helped with the cooking and washing of dishes. They had to isolate upstairs most of the time so they wouldn't get sick. Now all is well and my husband and I are back to the usual routine. We've been having spikes of covid cases here and in the capital. Good thing we're all vaccinated. Take care, everyone.

I'm really sorry about it. We are fortunate enough to stay away from the infection. Nonetheless, your symptoms are far better than mine compared to what I went through with Covid. I contracted it when there were still no vaccines available, which is why I experienced the full strength of the virus. I truly believed I wouldn't make it, but thank God, after a two- to three-week recovery, I was spared.

Thank God you'd been spared. I can't imagine being isolated for weeks let alone suffering from a virus that's new to me. Did you have to stay in a hospital and for how long?

@rsa101 Oh my. What an experience. And 3 months is a long time. I'm glad all is well now and I hope it doesn't happen to you ever again.

Yes, indeed. It was challenging to run a household with both adults sick in bed. Thankfully my kids have learned to wash the dishes and prepare their own food. They've been really helpful.

Yes, Covid can really mess with your sense of taste and/or smell. I am glad to hear you and your husband are fully recovered now.

Aside from all things being salty, I would occasionally smell SMOKE from out of nowhere. Funny that my friends who got Covid experienced the same thing. I thought it was just my imagination. Thank you for your well wishes.

Thanks. I heard that there's an increasing rate of infection again in China. It's a new variant.

That's good you are alright now. Last December many people caught Covid and got sick, so was I. At that time I lied on the bed most of the time and my husband cooked and did other housework. I got better two days later and then it was the turn for my husband and son had a fever. That's lucky we were sick in turn so that we could help each other.

@almostoveryou It seems it is the second wave attack. But it seems I haven't known more cases here. Perhaps recently it is very hot here. I am not sure. Or perhaps the symtoms are not serious and nobody know they are infected.

I would say you were lucky indeed. I hope it doesn't happen to your family again or at least not soon. I heard that China's rate of covid infection is increasing again.

I am very sorry you were found positive to Covid. Almost all my vaccinated friends got Covid and the non vaccinated did not. May be those non vaccinated are more careful.

@almostoveryou - We wore a mask all the time when we went out shopping and never went to eat in a restaurant or ordered food. My husband cannot be vaccinated for a health problem, so I decided also not to get the vaccine.

I wish I could be that non vaxxed person who doesn't get it ever. But living in a densely populated city requires inoculation. I'm thankful to have recovered in less than 2 weeks.

It still is. From what I've gathered, there were about 7,000 reported cases a few days ago. And I'm not even part of the statistic.

I am sorry to know about it. Recently here we don't see covid cases. Still, we are taking precautions like we avoid crowded places, and kids wearing masks at school. We wash our hands frequently. I understand how tough it would have been for you when both you and your husband had covid.

The mandatory wearing of mask has been lifted here that's why there's been a spike in cases lately. I'm immune for at least 2 months but I make it a point to wear a mask when in crowded places.
