Depression

Recently a woman killed her 2 months son and severely injured her other child of around 5 years who was fortunately rescued by neighbors. The woman said she did that since they had been having issues with the husband. And just the other day before committing that act the husband came home wearing a ring and she didn't have a ring. She told the media and police that she was depressed and had decided to take her life and that if her children. Is this depression or people are going to far? What's happening?

She could very well have post partum depression, which is a very real and dangerous thing. Combined with having issues with her husband, she certainly may have been pushed over the edge. If she were a terrible person before this I would tend to believe she's making excuses. However, in cases like these, it isn't usually a case of just being a bad person; there's a real mental break happening. I hope for the sake of everyone it was not premeditated, and that with professional help they can all find help, and peace.

I do not believe it. I think she just wanted revenge on her husband. Simple..lock her up.

I also think she killed her child because of frustration and to take revenge on her husband.

She has 2 month old making only 8 to 10 weeks PP which would fall under Post partial depression. Of course, someone saying they did it because of depression doesn't mean they truly did it because of depression. They would do a psychological evaluation to make sure that is true or not. Many women suffer from PPDP after having a baby and it happens in the first several months of a child's life. It can get progressively worse with each child you have which is why doctors are supposed to ask you but asking you doesn't mean you will say it.

Yea I remember learning about this condition and other post partum issues I thought to myself that her claiming it was out of depression was not the real underlying issue . Thanks for sharing this out .

@Laurakemunto AS a mother, I can deal with you PPDP is real as any other type of depression or other mental health issues out there. It's not a condition as it is hormones and stress. Taking care of children isn't as easy and some women get hit harder than others some women don't experience PPDP but can go through other things caused by stress and being sleep deprived.

In my case getting depressed is due to fear of not being able to work on my computer and provide money for my relatives.

Depression is a mental illness and many need professional help. Very sad to hear of this story. We should never judge those going through this illness.

It's difficult to think about it. I can't seem to understand this. It is so horrible that a mother could do that.

It is horrible. If she was in depression why did she kill her kid, she should have killed herself.

That is wrong to take your children along if you want to kill yourself.

Surely depression contributed to her already existing mental problem.

I think it's going too far. There's also so much stress with finances and social problems and people not treated well that some people go insane. In these cases people should be encouraged to seek help immediately and get into a positive environment.

Yes the lady claimed that she had marital problems and when she went to her parent's home, her mom chased her away and even friends and neighbors never wanted to hear her out

This is not depression. The woman is too materialistic and has no compassion. So woman have no right to become a mother.

I am not sure if this is depression. I have depression too, but I never wanted to harm others. It can be depression or other mental problem.

That's very sad that this has happened. It seems hard for people like this woman to reach out for help but that's what needs to happen.
