Time for a Rant

If you know me, and many of you do, I don't rant very often. However, there was enough happening this week to make my blood boil. It happened on Wednesday morning. People were later than usual getting down to the exercise class, for a good reason. Some of them received a letter on their door, and the person posted the letter in the elevator and other key places. I took the stairs, so I didn't see the letter. However, that didn't stop someone from accusing me of writing it. Guilty by association. No one knows who wrote the letter because the coward didn't sign their name on it. But everyone had plenty to say about it. The person who accused me of writing it said it was well written, so because I'm an author, she thought it was me. Also, the person who wrote it said in the letter they lived there for about two years. I'll be here for two years in September. I did not write the letter. No one knows who wrote it. So, what was the letter about? It accused the management of neglecting building 500, where I live, and better maintaining building 400. There are four buildings in this complex. One building is a group of townhouses. We have ONE maintenance person for all three buildings. We have ONE cleaning woman for all three buildings. It isn't fair to accuse the cleaning woman of neglecting our building when there are two other buildings, she is responsible for. What management needs to do is hire more help. I don't see that happening. I first saw the letter on Wednesday night. The coward who wrote it had the gall to intimate that everyone in building 500 felt as she did. That is not true. Though the things she said bore a nugget of truth, no one I talked to agreed with the coward that we all felt the same about living here. Yesterday, during Canasta, the office receptionist came into the community room to check it out. We gave her an earful of what we thought about the letter. What I can say about the letter's effect on the office is that even though they threw the letter away because the coward didn't sign it, things are getting done here. I would never write a letter like the one someone accused me of writing. For that person to think I did makes my blood boil. If the person doesn't like it here, they can move. I also found out that the birthday list I fixed and handed out to people at the potluck was against policy. I didn't know that. Someone complained to the office about the birthday list. I was upset about that too, but they're justified as it has something to do with privacy. Okay, that's my rant for this year. It was a 'wonderful' way to start my birthday. I didn't let it spoil my day, though. I made certain of that. Yet, you know as I'm writing this, that I'm still upset by it. What's your rant? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. The clouds were amazing last night.

@just4him You're welcome. You shouldn't let anything make other days bad for you, either. You don't deserve that.

@DaddyEvil Thank you. They're all usually pretty good. Then there are the ones where everything and everyone seems to work against you. Those are tough days, but I do my best to make lemonade out of lemons.

Yes, they do. Thank you. I'm glad I didn't either. My birthday is usually the best day of the year. I don't let anything stop it from being good. That's for the other days of the year.

I think that if you did have any concerns like that you would have handled it more maturely. Glad you aren't letting this ruin your special day. Ignore the negative.

So you are getting blamed for being a well written, intelligent person? That’s pretty sad. I’m really sorry. I got blamed for calling the cops on a fight between a couple late one night. They assumed because I am the most quiet one, surely I called. I had no idea there was a fight; I was sleeping! I am very glad you didn’t let that ruin your birthday.

Exactly, I got blamed because I'm intelligent. Thank you. I'm glad it didn't ruin my birthday too. I'm sorry someone blamed you for calling the police about a fight that happened while you were sleeping.

First of all, that person should have gone to management, not post letters on everyone's door! This was totally uncalled for. And whoever reported you, should have spoken to you and not report you to management! That's what slander does, it opens a can of worms that cause trouble

The person didn't post them to all the doors, only a few. The letter was posted in the elevator and on bulletin boards. I didn't see the letter. As for the birthday list, I don't know if the person who reported it knew I was the one who made the list. The list has to do with HIPPA laws. Why that is, is beyond me.

That's a sad situation. Crowd mentality. I'm sorry they accused you; and I'm glad it didn't ruin your birthday. I have no rants at the present time. Enjoy your day. Great photo.

People, the more of them I know, the more I like my cat. Some people are truly wonderful though, we can't let the bad apples spoil the barrel.

I don't really have a rant but I can see why you are upset. I think it makes more sense to write a let to the management than to post one. But as long as some things are getting done, it was effective if not very tactful. I think you should take it as a compliment that you write it because it was well written.

Only rant I have is how our local ER is set up. Those types of things are often meant just to cause trouble. That person might not have even been there very long. But thought saying 2 years sounded better. Sorry you got blamed for it

That is really cowardly and I'm sorry it happened to you and your group. It's also awful that someone would jump to the assumption that you wrote it.

Thank you. I saw a poem posted next to the elevator yesterday in reply to the letter. I wonder how long it will be up. It's a very good answer about what the letter did to those who read it.

The best (and proper) way for tenants to get their landlord's attention on these matters is to create a petition and have all of the tenants who agree with it to sign it. If that doesn't work, write a letter and send it to the Tenancy Bureau. Whoever wrote that letter and gave it to the tenants is a troublemaker. Happy Birthday btw.

Yes, the person is a troublemaker. I don't know anyone here who would sign a petition. I know I wouldn't.
