The Influencer Zhanna Samzonova died at the age of 39 who has been singing the praises of only vegan diet She died of malnutrition Never heard of any one dying of malnutrition - even the poorest do not die that way. These Influencers go overboard and because of their celebrity status people blindly follow them. This what the Media says about her Have you been following any Influencer and if so on what topic?
A social media influencer who extolled the virtues of a vegan diet of raw tropical fruit has died, reportedly of malnutrition, exhaustion and infections.

I would not refer to a fruit only diet as a vegan diet. Anyone who follows such a diet is bound to miss out on a lot of the necessary vitamins and minerals which can be derived from a variety of plant foods which include nuts, seeds , legumes, vegetables etc, etc,. She would definitely develop complications.

She has labelled it as vegan. Vegan does include nuts, seeds and such

@allknowing She is giving a false impression when she or the writer said "Fruit only diet".

I have little patience with 'influencers' of any sort. Sometimes it seems that thinking for oneself is a lost art.

I saw this online yesterday . . . I never heard of her until then, but oh the photos alone say a lot. Eating only one kind of fruit can't be healthy, and I think, sadly, she proved that .

@allknowing Perhaps she was in denial . . . she thought she looked and felt great (or maybe that was a facade). They say many with eating disorders see themselves differently.

I don't even consider her a vegan. From how she was she seemed desperately mentally ill with an eating disorder that she used veganism as a cover and to refuse food avoid getting help. If you look at her Instagram, most of the content is old/reused interspersed with more recent stuff where you can see how emaciated she is. Even then there's people encouraging her saying she looks amazing when she clearly needs medical and psychiatric help. All "influencers" carefully curate their content and only show you what they want to show (sell) you. They should be viewed as entertainment as they're as fictional as Mickey Mouse.

That is the problem with the virtual world. I am not on FB for the same reason. No one tells the truth

Youve never heard of malnutrition killing anyone? Malnutrition and its complications kills up to 3.1 million children alone in a year...

What I meant was the poor know how to stay away from malnutrition. But if they are forced to then it is another matter. Here she has been recommending that diet for those who could well afford to stay a way from it.

@allknowing 45% of malnutrition deaths in children under 5 come from low - moderate socioeconomic situations...

Yes I have also tried to loose weight as I am really heavy compared to two years before. Sometimes I do follow the recipes of smoothies or shakes of some random influencers in instagram. But they never kept me full and I ended up just eating more favorite snacks to keep me full. This instead made me gain more weight. So no more influencers for me!

Dying at such a young age from malnutrition sounds extreme. I don't know how anyone can think that only eating one type of food would be a good idea. Sometimes I wonder how these influences become influencers

Fruit only diet is not equivalent to vegan diet which may include nuts, seeds and other plant-based foods. Even people who are on veggie diet needs to take multivitamins.
