What's on my mind? Plumbing

I'd like to replace the faucet for my bathtub. It's one of those stupid one control for both hot and cold that's getting increasingly difficult for me to turn. And because it's one control for both, it lets in cold before the hot water, so there's no way you can leave the hot water dripping when the bathwater is too cool.
But replacing the roof put a big hole in my savings, so I'll just have to grin and bear it for now.
I finally found someone who will swap out my bathroom sink for a mere $80, not the same disappointment that agreed to do it last year but never did. But that won't be for awhile as he's busy helping a former neighbor gut said neighbor's house.

Too true. But now that my mortgage is paid off, I can start amassing my riches again.

I get that around the drain where water seems to collect.

That stuff is impossible to get rid of, if there's any place it can grow, like sealant around the edges or something. The only way to stop it is to keep everything as dry as possible, so once you have replaced the affected items then you have to always wipe down any damp areas after use.

Faucets are easy enough to replace but to get someone to do it, isn't. Luckily, a neighbor across the road was able to replace mine a few years ago. Unfortunately, he moved away for his job, so I couldn't ask him to do the sink swap.

@BarBaraPrz - The last plumber I called was a disaster and expensive. I would try myself, but I fear to flood the kitchen.

@LadyDuck Well, you do have to shut the water off first before you work on the plumbing.

I hope you can get that changed out relatively soon. I'd be annoyed about it. I
I know how to change regular faucets but have never tried to change a faucet with one control for both hot and cold water.

Well, the single control ones still have two water feed lines, so as long as the new fixture fits where the old one is, no problem.

A bit, not much after the roof.

Well, I could do it myself, too, except after falling on my hands a few times, my wrists sometimes complain about the weight of a tea cup. And they've been screaming the past few days even at rest. That's one of the reasons I want to switch out the sink, the new one has taps that I can push without having to twist my hands.

Our tub has been unusable for about 10 years now. It needs a new faucet and shower. I doubt it will ever get done. I hope you can get the sink swapped out. Enjoy your day.
