I have mine and my mum's wedding dress stored away safely t I asked my daughter if she would like them to be used to make something for the twins She advised me to donate the dresses to a charity called little angels This charity want the dresses to make shrouds for still born babies I can't do it so when I have gone I will leave it to the twins to decide What would you do?

My wedding dress is beautiful, I would place an add and donate to a girl who wants it.

@Gilljane I was less than 8 stone, I weighted 40 Kg when I married. The dress was tailor made for me. I have to find a very slim girl to wear that dress.

Mine is too. I only weighed 8 stone when I married. The dress was expensive as it was made to measure but if it fitted a slim girl then she would be welcome to it

@LadyDuck My mum's dress was much smaller than mine so an ultra thin girl would have to be found

I would donate it to another charity if you're not comfortable with Little Angels. I'm still hanging on to my dress. I don't know why. Have a good day.

For some it feels like an honor of the dress owner. I still have my dress, except for the sleeves which my mom did in Irish crochet. We added those to my daughter's wedding dress.

I agree. Part of my cousin's wedding dress was made into a Christening gown and was lent to me when my daughter got christened

You have to do what feels right. I got rid of mine when I got divorced

The shroud think gave me the chills. Painful memories of stillborn baby, I think I would keep for the twins,

Wedding dresses cannot be used for mourning events. That can't be called auspicious.

There are a few places here that people donate wedding dresses, tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses...the idea that those who would not have had a dress or proper attire can possibly get items. They charge $10 for a weekend of using the item .The money goes for the store rent and utilities. The workers are all volunteers. Maybe you have something similar nearby? They offer a lot for a nominal fee so that girls can dress for their occasion.

@gilljane on one level that’s a bit creepy, but I understand that a grieving parent might appreciate something they might not otherwise be able to afford.
