Morning Brunch: Fresh Pumpkin Spice Bread

My hubby slept in this morning so I decided to put a loaf of Pumpkin Spice Bread in the oven and enjoy a slice with my second cup of morning coffee. I am not normally a pumpkin spice fan, but this bread was just right. My only complaint was that the spice could have been toned down just a tad bit, but it was okay. This was another holiday mix in the Walmart Great Value holiday mix line. It's very easy to make, just add eggs, oil, water, mix and pop it in the over for an hour. Walla! You have a fresh baked loaf of bread! Have you tried any of the flavors in the Great Value Holiday Mix line yet? We loved the Cranberry Orange mix so I picked up a few more to try out. So far, Cranberry Orange is still my favorite! But it is nice to have a change of flavor every now and then! Photo: Public Domain Pixabay

I really, really do not like Walmart. I have been there one time in maybe 8 years? That was because the ER messed up and called in some meds for my son there instead of our pharmacy, and he needed them too badly for me to wait for it to be transferred. Pumpkin is good year round to me, not just in the fall! I do make those breads often, but I just use a recipe. It doesn't take long and it's excellent. Those breads are so good with a nice hot cup of coffee. Enjoy!

Have one grocery in my little town and that is where I buy meat. Only two stores in the next city over are Walmart and Aldi and we just got Aldi so I don't have much of a choice.

@MarieCoyle Maybe so. Maybe they had no customer service to keep their customers shopping there. Who knows? I know most need to shop where the best prices are. No need in throwing your hard earned money away when you can be saving money weekly on groceries.

@kareng I know Walmart has chased away a lot of the older local stores in many towns, so sad.

I haven't...sounds good though. I made pumpkin spice cookies yesterday...I wanted to try the recipe because it was only 35 calories per cookie...and they are quite good.

Mix it up and one hour in the oven. Fresh baked bread! Love that you don't have to knead it and let it rise!

I'm glad you like it. I'm sorry it had too much pumpkin spice. I don't shop at Wal-Mart anymore.

Good that it's easy and convenient to bake with thoss ready spice bakes. I am not into baking (except for few simple cakes) and have never tried them. My younger daughter loves to bake and sometimes she makes breads from scratch.

I only bake in the winter months and since it is starting to cool down here, it was time to get started!

@arunima25 It has gotten longer in recent years. When I was a child, it was cold in August and September. Now those months are mainly summer weather with temperatures still in the 90's. Winter was over with in March-April. Now winter has extended through March and mostly April. We had snow in the south here 3 times in April just a few years ago. That was unheard of and I'm sure broke a record.

@kareng And winter in your part of the world stays long. You can bake a lot. I love the aroma when my daughter bakes something in the house

It was enjoyable, but Cranberry Orange is still my favorite in that line! There is an Apple Cinnamon that is also good!!

No Walmart stores here. I usually make my own bread mix buying the different ingredients I need.

I could do that with the cranberry-orange!! Food allergies are the pits. My grandson can't have soy and it is in just about everything pre-packaged. Too many trips to ER to count!!

@crazyhorseladycx They are re-thinking them all right; forcing or trying to force us all to become vegetarians. Also, beware of bio-engineered ingredients that are now in a lot of prepared foods. You have to read labels now for sure!

@kareng oh, poor dear! gluten, soy, rice 'd be my main culprits, so i can 'mpathize with yer grandson. pre-packaged foods 're filled with those 'fillers', most 'f which's where the carbs originate. 'f course, with a rice shortage perhaps the manufacturers'll be forced to rethink their 'ngredients?

My pumpkins are still in the garden. I'm currently dealing with apples. Going to be shoveling tons of windfall apples into the compost bin and meantime I've made apple (quick) bread and applesauce. Our litte freezer is filling up!

@kareng Yes. I hate that boxes and boxes of apples will have to go to the compost bin. We are trying to use at least some. These apples are not sprayed so yes to worms and such but we will continue on, trying to use what we can.

I love things with cranberries in them. We haven't tried that line; but we used to make Pillsbury's Quick Breads all the time. Hubs can't handle the standing anymore; and I can't cook or bake anymore; so those things don't get made. I'm glad you are enjoying them. Have a good week.
